The two officers stood at the door and waited for Chris to answer. “Here he comes,” one of the officers said. “What’s up, pal? How are you?” he asked Chris as the man opened his door, a little confused. The officer asked for his name and introduced himself. “How old are you today?” he asked Chris. “25,” he responded. The officer then enthusiastically asked, “Is it your birthday?” “Yes, sir,” Chris replied with a hopeful smile. After a few exchanges and some wholesome banter, the other officer presented Chris with a cupcake decorated with candles on top.
“We tried to light candles for you man, but the wind blew it away,” the officer said. The officers adorably continued to speak with Chris and politely asked if they could come inside the corridor to light the candles and give Chris an authentic birthday experience.
