The man had bought 20 tickets for different timings

Dating in 2026 can be frustrating, and one man from India came up with an easy way to score a date. A now-deleted account on Reddit with the username u/imabhi012 posted a photo of 20 tickets to "The Devil Wears Prada 2." He explained that his brother had bought the tickets for different timings, hoping he would "run into some baddies" at the theater. The story was covered by The Brief India (@thebrief.in), and the post received 58,700 likes and 151 comments.
The man had spent ₹10,000 just on tickets, which amounts to roughly more than $100. Since the post has been deleted, reactions from the original post are no longer visible. However, the man knew exactly what he was doing. "The Devil Wears Prada 2" features Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Justin Theroux, and other famous actors. Since the film is heavily associated with fashion, glamour, and stylish women, the man expected women who were interested in the same things would come to watch the film. He also hoped to meet someone by repeatedly attending the screenings of the film.
People can find the love of their lives at any place, any time, and maybe that was what the man hoped for when he purchased the 20 tickets. The Knot 2024 Jewelry & Engagement Study conducted a survey on 8,000 couples who were recently engaged to ask them where and how they met. Results showed 27% of the couples met on dating apps, 16% met through mutual friends, 15% met each other at school, and 10% were introduced to each other through work. Only 9% found love when they least expected it. The couples under the last category had really adorable meet-cutes. They met on trains, at the dog park, while grocery shopping, at the library, and more.

Several people in the comments left "How I Met Your Mother" references. Some called the man a "real-life Barney Stinson." A few others tagged their friends in the comment section, asking if the man in the viral post was them. @gakiverse compared the man's actions to real-life swiping on a popular dating app. They wrote, "Tinder pro max." Another person gave the man some advice on how to find baddies. @rishavcharles commented, "Just join your local pilates."
