The man expressed that it was really scary and shared two of the scariest stories that happened during that time.
In quite a few instances, people are misdiagnosed with certain medical conditions. It can be quite hazardous in many cases, but in other situations, it can be a really unusual experience for people who go through it. Sometimes, such things can also be really unpleasant. A man was wrongly diagnosed as being comatose while he was conscious and could hear everything people were talking about around him. The man, Jake Haendel, who goes by @miraclman31, took to TikTok to share his experience with people.
"Doctors thought I was in a coma. I was actually conscious. I could hear everything going on around me," Haendel wrote. He shared, "Yeah, I remember everything happening during this time. So if it was said around me, I could hear it." The man expressed, "Some of the crazier, more interesting things I heard is some people were talking about my care and how expensive it was going to be. One person in my family said, 'Well, I have a feeling that the problem would work itself out any day now.'" The man thought to himself, "Well, sc*** you." Handel continued, "Some of the other stuff that I heard was a healthcare professional had come into my room and I am kind of perceived comatose."
The person who had come into the man's room said out loud that he didn't feel like brushing his teeth today, so he was not going to do it and walked out. The man had positional eye gaze and only heard the person's footsteps coming into the room. "I kind of thought to myself, I didn't even know it was toothbrushing time. Why would you even say that out loud? You could have just said nothing and not come in." The man revealed that there were a lot of things that happened during that time. The caption read, "Yes, I remember and could hear everything around me. As you can imagine, I heard a lot of crazy things during that time. Here's two of the craziest stories."
The video received more than 176k views and over 7.9k likes. People took to the comments section of the video to share their thoughts and experiences with the man. @tiffinylayton wrote, "As an ICU Nurse, this is why I always talk to my patients and tell them what I'm doing. You never know what they can hear, but I want them to know what is being done." @erica_erica_erica remarked, "I believe my husband heard everything said in his room the three weeks he was sedated. He passed on Friday. Tomorrow is one week without my soulmate. I’m so glad you survived."
@haileyredj commented, "My sister was in a coma for weeks and my mom forced the nurses to leave the room if they wanted to speak about her or her care. She read to my sister and talked to her. She knew." @bailey_ismyname shared, "I had a confused older lady who was really out of it because of an infection, I played Sinatra during every bed bath. When she finally got better, she said all she remembered was Sinatra." @dollarjill expressed, "From an ICU nurse, this is absolutely horrific and I am SO sorry that you had to experience this. I always talk to my patients no matter what, just as if they were awake. Explain what I am doing, etc."
