Quora user Kevin James Walsh shared how he ended up marrying his childhood crush, who went on to save his life. Under a discussion question, "What is one moment in your life you thought could only happen in a movie?", Kevin, who came across the question, was more than ready to unwind his Notebook-esque love story for the world to witness. Kevin narrated that 13-year-old him was at a summer camp when he came across the "prettiest girl" he had ever seen. The girl, Black Moore, went on to tell him, "Black is a good colour on you." The two then exchanged their AIM screen names and stayed in touch for a while. Walsh was intrigued by Blake and revealed that he didn't go a day without thinking about her in all those years they stayed in touch.
However, in his senior year of high school, Walsh went through some "dumb" stuff that he felt was "earth-shattering at that time" and soon fell into depression. He began to contemplate ending it all and even wrote a note and went to the location as planned. However, what happened next was something straight out of a romance novel! He said, "Somewhere between 5 and 10 seconds before I would have taken my life, my phone rang. I checked the caller ID — I couldn't die not knowing. It was a number I didn't recognise, so I picked up and it was her, Blake."

Blake Moore had called to explain to him things that she had wished to tell him for unknown reasons, even though they hadn't spoken in over a year. When Walsh revealed his plan to take his life, Blake talked him out of it and made him promise to call her the next day. That same night, Walsh sat down to pen the words that he later used to propose to her ten years from then. In 2016, Blake and Kevin got married in a beautiful countryside wedding. In a study authored by Karlijn Heesen in 2024, it was learned that unexpected sensory stimuli, such as an unsolicited phone call, could interrupt the tunnel vision often experienced before an attempt. These unexpected interactions appeared to provide a moment of connection or distraction, potentially averting the crisis, as seen in Kevin's case.
Soon after his post blew up, Kevin posted pictures from his wedding, which attracted many online users to send wishes to the newlywed couple who found their 'happily ever after'. @bellabug2005 wrote, "This is the cutest story. You guys are a perfect couple." @jeangriffard wrote, "Proud of you! Now go out and encourage others, why ending it all isn't the answer!" @ohhmiyy commented, "I would love this to be a movie."
