'Do you send flowers to all your neighbors, or was I just lucky?'

Who knew sending flowers to the wrong address could lead to a beautiful love story until an individual (u/betsnd) shared their experience on Reddit? On Valentine's Day, they ordered flowers for the girl they were seeing, but unknowingly got them delivered to the wrong address. Surprisingly enough, the little mishap turned in their favor, playing Cupid in their fairy-tale romance. The post was shared in July 2025, securing 16,000 upvotes so far.

"I was in a rush and typed her address too fast. I didn’t even notice I mixed up two numbers in her apartment," they recalled. A couple of hours later, the author got the delivery confirmation but was surprised that the girl didn't text back after receiving the flowers — "no, thank you, no, these are beautiful, or nothing, just silence," they explained. The author assumed the girl wasn't interested and their relationship was over, but then something unexpected happened. 3 days later, a stranger showed up. "This woman is standing there with the flowers in her hands. I didn’t recognize her at first. She goes, 'Hey, these showed up at my place. I almost threw them out, but they were too pretty. I figured I’d try to get them to the right person.'" Yes, this was his 'accidental Valentine.' The woman laughed and complimented the author, saying they had good taste.

"If you ever need help picking out flowers again, I’m right down the hall," she added. What looked like an awkward first meeting turned into something more than heartwarming when the author sent her a new bouquet the next day. "Just some simple yellow tulips with a note that said, 'Thought you deserved your own,'" they said. The same day, the woman slid a sticky note under the author's door that read, "Do you send flowers to all your neighbors, or was I just lucky?" And that was the beginning of their straight-out-of-a-movie love story. The couple met for a quick coffee that weekend and ended up talking for hours without realizing. "Now it’s almost a year later. We’re still together," the author confessed.

To date, they shared that they surprised their girlfriend with tulips now and then. In a world where most couples meet on dating apps, surveys indicate a substantial number also meet through real-life, chance encounters, just like the author. In fact, Novuna Personal Finance found that 60% of people met their partners by chance or real-life channels. Meanwhile, reacting to the story, u/bowmans1993 shared, "My fiancé and I were in the same friends group, and I was a big flirt. I kept making moves, saying this is going to happen. She kept telling me that you and I are never going to happen. Now, we have been together for 10 years, and next year we will get married. 'Never gonna happen' is inscribed on the inside of her band, and it's our inside joke."

u/independent_tough653 exclaimed, "That’s called 'Divine Intervention.' You’ve been blessed, and I’m very happy for you both! Don’t screw it up!" u/mustang-64 joked, "The original girlfriend is like, 'First my boyfriend didn't get me anything for Valentine's, then he ghosted me for some strange reason.' Moral of the story: Next time, give your Valentine's gift in person." u/acuriousmix disclosed, "This is actually how my husband and I met. We lived in the same condo building but didn’t know each other. He left a note for a girl who drove a black Matrix and also lived in the building. He put the note on the wrong black matrix. I got the note and called the number and told him, 'You got the wrong girl.' He wouldn’t believe me, so I left a note on his car… We ended up going out on a date, and here we are 18 years later!"
