Marie Nee and Terrence Speights were enthralled to receive the sideline passes to the Eagles game after they decided to take an unmarked envelope from an Eagles employee.
People who enjoy American football must know that it's incredibly hard to get your desired tickets at a reasonable price during the peak season. Getting sideline passes to the field is out of the question for many. But imagine if it ends up being your lucky day and you get handed free tickets to the sidelines during the game of your favorite football team? This distant dream of Marie Nee and Terrence Speights, two Philadelphia Eagles fans, was unexpectedly turned into reality in October 2023 when they were about to attend a football game at Lincoln Financial Field.
According to TODAY, Nee and Speights, who are also longtime friends and former co-workers, received the upgrade of a lifetime when the Philadelphia Eagles' social media admin gave them the mystery envelope which they took with little hesitation. “They avoided her like the plague,” Speights, mentioned to the outlet on how other game attendees avoided the social media admin. Speights was suspicious about the lady handing over the unmarked envelope but he still gave it a shot.
“I’m thinking, we just got our seats upgraded to something better. I’m thinking we’re going up to one of the suites,” he continued. But the surprise inside the envelope was something way better than what the elderly duo had expected. “I’m on the sideline! Not just at the game!” Speights can be seen exclaiming in the viral video which was shared on the Eagles' official sites like their YouTube channel. Nee and Speights celebrate their free upgrade to the sidelines of the game by getting on a call with their friends and families to break the news too.
“I just was so — I was looking everywhere,” Nee said, barely containing her excitement. “She saw Jalen Carter. He was right in front of her, and she got to shake DeSean Jackson’s hand,” Speights recalled the once-in-a-lifetime experience of being at the sidelines for free and even taking selfies with team members. The duo has been attending the Eagles games for decades but both of them admitted that they have never been this lucky before.
As if Nee and Speights had more lucky stars on their chart because as soon as their video of receiving the sideline upgrade blew up on Instagram, the team reached out to award them another dream experience. Nee and Speights were invited in November to tour the NovaCare Complex which is the home and training facility of the Philadelphia Eagles with Nee's daughter Cynthia Fillmore tagging along with them as well.
The elderly Eagles fans were given a lavish lunch treat, were allowed to visit the coach's press conference and even explored the practice fields and the weight rooms. Eagles' insider Dave Spadaro, wide receiver A.J Brown and defensive end Brandon Graham also greeted Nee, Speights and Fillmore. “I’m surprised Marie’s conscious,” Speights joked, per the outlet. “She hugged everybody in the building. Everybody in the building!”
The wide receiver of the Eagles, Brian Covey specially greeted Nee and even said "I love you" to her. “These people were so humble and so nice to each of us. I mean, it was unbelievable,” Nee added. “That’s what kind of got to me because, you know, (they) could have said ‘hi,’ you know, and then just went on their merry way or whatever, but they didn’t. Anyway, I bleed green now.” The die-hard Eagles fans duo possibly had the greatest time of their lives all because they decided to take a leap of faith and accept a mystery envelope.
