The neighborhood united to decorate their homes and yards with various Barbie-themed elements, each with a unique twist.
The Barbie craze has not withered off, but with Halloween around the corner, one can’t go all pink but this town is changing that perspective. In the highest spirits of Halloween and with the much-loved movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, an entire neighborhood in Utah went all out this spooky season in a Barbie and Halloween collab to create Barbieland. Liz–who goes on TikTok by @paseo_forever–has been sharing glimpses of a united community coming together to make the decor as thrilling as possible. She shared a video with the caption, “When the whole neighborhood loves Halloween (and Barbie) a lot!”
The video captured the residents in unison decorating their houses and yards with all the Barbie-themed elements, except they all had a twist. The first house, titled the “Barbie Dream House,” had everything pink right from pillars, walls, decors and more. The next house took spooky up a notch with their “Barbie Disco House” theme. These guys had the music and DJ table and mixer, all Barbie-style. There was also a hysterically horrifying door sign that read, “You ever think about dying?” Going further, Liz shared the “Barbie pool party” house and this one did not disappoint.
With the pool, floats and more, it seemed all welcoming until Barbie showed up. The highlight of this stunning Barbie was that it was a skeleton in a floater with lovely blonde hair attracting attention to the house from the top of a pool slide. Followed by this was the extensive, dashing one that everyone was waiting for, the “Dojo Mojo Casa House.” There was a bar, a stable and all the “manly” elements as portrayed by Gosling’s character in the film. Next was the Barbie Graveyard because you can’t have Halloween without a graveyard!
There lay the gravestones of several Barbies, but that was not all. This one took a hilarious turn with its idea of spookiness. Along with the “Barbie” gravestones, there were gravestones that had the most sarcastic displays. One read, “Here lies sugar daddy Ken.” Another read, “RIP the patriarchy,” hinting towards the iconic film plot. With a gravestone, there’s likely to be a coffin. The video hilariously captured the mortifying pink coffin with a “Barbie skeleton” in a swimsuit, sunglasses and a tippet or a sort of party furry scarf wrapped around the neck.
The video undoubtedly went viral, gaining 2M views and 400K likes. Several users were stunned by the innovative idea the neighborhood came up with. Even prominent figures like Elyse Myers @elsemyers commented, saying, “This is a neighborhood I wouldn’t be scared to walk around at night.” Even @barbie commented on the video, saying, “Barbie Land in the real world? Yes please!” The majority of the comments revolved around how much people ached to be in the Utah neighborhood and participate in the craze. It surely looks like there’s gonna be a Barbie girl and a Barbie world right here!
In one of the follow-up videos, Liz replied to a comment to show what the area looked like at night. The pink lights and the night sky surely gave the fright, not to mention the skeletons and human-sized horses. The video also featured the neighbors in unison as they continued to set up and decorate the pathways in high spirits.
The story kept escalating and in yet another video, the handsome Ken skeleton was revealed in a Ken vs Ken rendition. With the haunting pink around the entire neighborhood, there’s only one message: Beware this Halloween. Barbie is coming!
