'Little People, Big World' star Amy Roloff gets engaged: "I never thought I'd marry again"

Amy Roloff, star of the hit reality television series Little People, Big World, never thought she would get married again after divorcing her husband of 27 years. However, the 55-year-old actress was ecstatic when her boyfriend Chris Marek proposed to her recently. In an interview with PEOPLE Magazine, she exclaimed, "I’m excited, I’m so surprised, I’m thrilled!" Marek proposed to her with a huge rock in the shape of a heart, because he believed that is what his now-fiancee would have wanted. More details about their upcoming wedding are yet to be revealed, but we're sure it will be a special and unique affair.

Marek proposed on Wednesday, September 18, night - a day after Roloff's birthday—at a restaurant that they have frequented together on the regular ever since they celebrated their first anniversary there as a couple. She shared with PEOPLE, "I never in a million years thought I’d be getting married again, but I also hoped for it! Now that it’s happening, I couldn’t be happier or more excited." Marek added regarding the proposal and, of course, the ring, "I was very nervous! It had to be a heart-shaped diamond because I knew that’s what Amy wanted."

Prior to their engagement, Roloff was married to Matt Roloff. She shares four children with her former husband:  twin brothers Jeremy and Zach, 29, daughter Molly, 26, and youngest son Jacob, 22. She filed for divorce in 2015, after 27 years of happy married life. The divorce was finalized in May 2016. Following the officiation of her divorce, she got back onto the dating scene. It was only a few months later, in December 2016, when she hit it off with Marek. She once said on an episode of Little People, Big World, "I’m having a good time. You know, I had a couple of pool parties. I had, like, 40 people here. No, I probably had, like, 50 people here. Then this guy Chris that I met, he came to the party, too. We got to talking and he invited me to go on a motorcycle ride. Oh, I’m having a ball!"

Following this, in June 2017, she said on the show once again, "I just never thought someone who is average size would be interested in me. I just really want him to never question or doubt the relationship because I’m a little person... I just have a good time. I have fun with him. I never thought I’d be dating as a grandma, and it’s nice to experience that and be with someone." Little did she know that Marek wasn't just interested in dating her, but marrying her too. Which is a good thing, because though Roloff might be divorced, marriage is to her still an important institution. "Even though I’m divorced, I still value and will hold up high the whole concept, the reason, the purpose that marriage is here," she admitted to producers earlier this year. "And if by chance I get to do that again, I would still put everything that I can, as best as I can, to make it work." Well, it looks like Roloff has the chance to experience all the wonderful and magical parts of marriage all over again. Warm congratulations to the happy couple!
