Little girl's reaction to dad's heartwarming surprise is making everyone cry tears of joy

Having a pet is one of the greatest joys, but losing one brings the most gut-wrenching grief. The warmth and love a pet brings to its human is beyond comparison, just pure and soothing. Teara Stout—who goes by @feathered_stout on Instagram—shared a video of a girl’s wholesome reaction to the most thoughtful and much-needed surprises by her dad. The video perfectly captures the heartwarming emotion of love and understanding through their expression. The video began with the father-daughter duo entering a parking lot towards their car.

The little girl was busy conversing with her dad about a tiny wound she had gotten the previous night. “It’s been hurting here lately and I know why,” the girl said as she pointed towards her ankle, completely engaged in the conversation. Meanwhile, her father was filming her, waiting for the surprise to unfold and capture her reaction. However, he kept the conversation going to avoid ruining the surprise. “I scratched it last night on something, but I don’t know where,” the girl continued to speak as she opened the door of the car. Very casually she opened the door without even looking since she was busy speaking with her father.

As soon as she was done with the conversation, she looked into the seat to find the cutest puppy seated there. She went straight in and sat on all fours before cuddling the furry guy. “She had no idea what was patiently waiting for her,” the text overlay read. After a gasp, she said, “He’s so cute!” Not fully understanding the surprise, the girl asked, “Who’s he?” Proudly, the dad replied, “He’s ours!” The girl immediately went back to burying her face into her new pet and cuddling him and broke into tears. “Her reaction was so wholesome, I had to share it with the world,” the text overlay read.

While the girl looked over in surprise and awe at her dad, tears continued to rush faster. “His name is Barley,” the dad said and the girl burst into tears even more. The text overlay revealed that the family dog they previously had had to be taken down a few weeks ago. Having a new pet filled the little girl with mixed emotions. “I’m so happy. I just miss Moosey so much,” she said as she sobbed. She continued to hug the puppy, knowing she would cherish him, along with her previous pet, Moosey, in her heart. “Just a little girl & her puppy. He will never replace our Moosey, but his cuddles sure help,” the caption of the video read.

Teara Stout shared a few other posts of the little girl and their new dog, Barley, along with a few family pictures with the puppy on her Instagram. One of the posts captured the girl standing and holding her puppy with the biggest smile on her face. “The ‘Barley and Me’ Era,” the caption read. Barley has truly found his family and the little girl an added dose of warmth and love to fill her heart.
