'My little girl is all grown up and starting her own journey with the love of her life,' wrote the iconic singer-songwriter for his daughter.
A daughter's wedding is an immensely emotional event for any father. Our favorite celebrities are not different. For Lionel Richie, his daughter Sofia's wedding to Elliot Grainge brought up many emotions. He took to Instagram to share what this day meant to him. The Instagram post featured pictures from her wedding day along with a heart-melting note. The famous singer-songwriter and "American Idol" judge also wrote a sweet caption, "My little girl is all grown up and starting her own journey with the love of her life."
"You’ll always be my little bird, but I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become. Endless Love to You and Elliot," "Endless Love" is also Richie's hit 1981 song with Diana Ross, per TODAY. All the beautiful moments in photographs have been captured by photographer German Larkin. In these pictures, the iconic singer and the loving father is seen walking his daughter down the aisle. In another picture, the father-daughter duo is seen posing next to Lionel Richie's eldest daughter Nicole Richie, and the bride smiles, along with her husband, music executive Elliot Grainge. Sofia Richie, 24, reacted to her father's message in the comments of his post. "I love you so much, Dad," she wrote. Sofia and Grainge, 29, announced their engagement in April 2022. “Forever isn’t long enough,” she captioned the photo of her proposal, where Grainage was seen down on one knee. She also added another picture of them kissing and the engagement ring could be seen in this picture. She also shared a picture of her proposal in December 2022. In the picture, we can see flower petals and candles. "2022, thanks for the most special moment of my life," she said.
Lionel Richie also discussed Sofie's wedding with Extra. “Baby Girl got married. When I say that… it’s a great feeling, I must say, I’ve known Elliot since he was 9 years old. So I know the groom really well. "There’s a thing down South we always say: ‘Who’s your people?’ Well, I know his people, so it really is a real wonder to see them in love and just as happy as I’ve ever seen my little girl and Elliot," he said.
He added, "It was a moment where, yes, I was letting her go, but I was also gaining a family. The family is getting huge right about now, but we are happy.” “She spent the whole time walking down the aisle: ‘I love you, dad, I love you, dad, I love you, dad,’ and I go ... ‘You’re killing me. You’re killing me,'" he said. "But that’s what a dad wants to hear, and I love Baby Girl so much, and the family was there to root her on.”
