The idea of success intrigues many of us. Even as a child, seeing someone win a race would have instilled a little zeal in us to match that speed. The same zeal continues in our adult life - only now, we feel the urge to win the rat race that everyone's running. However, it looks like hustling harder to succeed at work and life doesn't really help us that much. Motivational speaker and life coach Taylor Nardone–who goes by @taylorryannnardone on TikTok–shared some wisdom about what truly drives our success and it has nothing to do with busting our guts for hours every day at work.

Nardone starts his video with these golden words of wisdom: "Your success will come from your rest." While knowing the internet would be triggered by this notion, the life coach emphasized that rest doesn't mean one should "do nothing." He clarified, "Your best idea is the inspiration. All of this that you're seeking and you know this to be true, does not come from constantly hustling and doing and doing and doing." For those who believe in the hustle culture, Nardone says, "How does that work for you? You're a mop on the floor." As per the life coach, taking a break from constant hard work is quite essential for one's success.

Nardone highlights that our best ideas are birthed after a period of proper "rest and rejuvenation." Once we experience "newness and freshness" after our rest, we are ready to take on our work challenges with a clear mind. "You need to be open to receiving those ideas that God is going to plant in your heart so you can respond to them and execute properly," the life coach explains. That "beautiful period of rest" is not just for your body but also for your soul, as per Nardone. The video garnered over 302k views and the life coach's words were the epitome of reassurance for several social media users. Many even shared how rest had helped them sort their lives out after constantly toiling for years, thinking that was the way to succeed

"I keep thinking I need to reach out and make things happen. I just need to rest. Thank you," said @amarajohn. "All of this! Only learned this in my mid-30s. The need to be productive/hustling 24/7 was actually my ego trying to find another way to feel above others. You all ain't ready for that one," commented @perfumedwhitney. "I rested for a week and a half and did two of the most amazing mediumship readings last night. It was the confidence boost I needed," chimed in @janelleschark

Now that the corporate world has glorified hustle culture, many believe that it is okay to beat themselves up for as long as they can. But some people, like Nardone, are emphasizing why it's important to rest as well. Eso Tolson (@coolurbanhippie), an artist who often shares inspirational messages on X, posted about how "rest is not a reward." "You don't have to earn rest. You need rest. You deserve rest. You are worthy of rest simply because you are a living being. And don't ever feel guilty for taking time to rest," Eso wrote and it hit hard for many internet users.
