The world has witnessed Martin Scorsese make one masterpiece after another when it comes to filmmaking. Everybody can agree that his contribution to the film industry is unparalleled. Now it seems he is about to stir up some storm on TikTok alongside his 23-year-old daughter, Francesca Scorsese–who goes on the platform by @francescascorsese. Though this is not the first time the famed director has appeared on the social media platform, this is certainly the first time he has gone viral for something other than his films and his views on changing cinema.

In the viral video with over 1 million views, Scorsese faces the camera as he and his youngest daughter indulge in this fun game. The almost five-minute-long clip captures Francesca presenting 12 Gen Z slang to her father. All Scorsese had to do was explain what he thought they meant. Scorsese manages to guess the meaning of terms such as "spilling the tea," getting the "ick" and his proud daughter seems impressed by his display of understanding for complex Gen Z lingo.

Though the "Taxi Driver" director struggles with some terms, he manages to get the term "sneaky link" somewhat right, which is used to refer to a secret romantic or sexual relationship. Francesca also explains to her dad that the term actually refers to what is known as "booty call." "Oh, really?" Scorsese questions, surprised. "Oh no, I didn't get that no. We never saw specific people in my day." Scorsese also failed to guess the correct meaning of the term "ship," which is used while referring to someone supporting another couple's relationship or wanting to see two people get into a relationship.

The "Goodfellas" director also failed at guessing the true meaning of "simp," which is used to describe when someone has a crush on somebody aka they're "simping" for them. However, the veteran director managed to get eight answers correctly, according to the TikTok video's overlay text. Internet users were fairly surprised and delighted to see someone like Scorsese appearing in a fun TikTok video like this. @raylewis1997 wrote: "Can't believe we live in a world where I get to watch Martin Scorsese become familiar with the term sneaky link. Blessings."

@sydschu12 pointed out, "The fact that she is using the terms in sentences related to movies is giving me LIFE." One follower of Francesca told her how she should have mentioned the word "rizz" to her dad in this challenge, to which Francesca replied that she forgot this popular term for "charm" these days. @gotanyspecials commented, "I can't believe I'm watching one of the greatest filmmakers of our lifetime be quizzed by his daughter about teen slang."

@jbradyx joked, "If he doesn't call Leonardo DiCaprio up and use 10 of these in a conversation, I'm not sure what the point of society is." According to Insider, Francesca has followed in the footsteps of her father into the film industry after graduating from the NYU Tisch School of Arts, where she studied film and TV production. She debuted her short film, "Fish Out of Water," at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

Scorsese had made a couple of other appearances on her TikTok page previously, where she mostly shares vlog-style videos, challenges and comedic skits. Meanwhile, fans are looking forward to Scorsese's future project titled "Killers of the Flower Moon," which arrives in theaters in October 2023. The story follows the real-life series of killings of members of the Osage tribe in Oklahoma in the 1920s when oil was found on their land.
