Social media portrays people's lives as picture-perfect and many homes look like they're straight out of a magazine. But this is far from the reality for many, especially for parents with kids at home. One stay-at-home mom wants to alleviate the stress many parents go through if their homes are messy. Self-proclaimed “lazy mom” on TikTok @_amanduhh__is trying to normalize giant piles of laundry and dirty floors. This doesn't mean she doesn't clean up; she just deals with the mess of the day the next morning.

The mom-of-two, whose real name is Amanda Rose, shared the clip on TikTok which has nearly 6 million views. In the video, she begins by saying, “Here's another morning of my lazy mom life.” Viewers get a peek into a messy kitchen, piled high with dirty plates, empty containers and food left out overnight. For those wondering how it can get so messy, the mom just doesn't clean up after herself immediately. Having two kids can also add to it. But she makes sure to clean up the next day. “The answer is so simple,” she said. “I just close my f**king eyes and go to sleep.” Many people, especially with kids, are completely exhausted at the end of a long day and cleaning up is the last thing on their minds. The TikToker can be seen cleaning up the house the next morning.

When she’s not taking care of the house, she uses that time to spend with her kids. “I am here to normalize this kind of stuff, and even if some of you think that this isn't normal, to some of us this is normal. This is my normal. I am the lazy stay-at-home mom,” she continued. “...just because I'm lazy doesn't mean that I don't do sh*t all day. I just do other sh*t, like go to the park with my kids. Yes, I could do cleaning still, but again, I call myself lazy for a reason,” she joked. Other moms chimed in to agree that they also prefer cleaning the next day. @amberrrg wrote, "By the time I’ve cooked, fed the kids, bathed the kids and put them to bed I’m not cleaning! Morning cleaning is for me." @arainajade added, "love this. it’s so easy to fall behind on chores & cleaning & we shouldn’t feel bad or embarrassed about it." @jenniejenjen2023 admitted, "This is what most homes look like. Some ppl clean SUPER clean when they know ppl coming over. Love this honesty."
