On one unfortunate Sunday in 2025, a woman named Jaxx (@jaxxchismetalk) made a shocking realization about her long-term relationship. Well, she said, her girlfriend of six years had been shamelessly cheating on her for an entire year without letting anyone know. The first red flag appeared when she refused to share details of a California trip she was supposedly taking with her cousins. At first, Jaxx ignored it and didn't suspect infidelity until she stumbled upon a few tags that exposed her secret romantic getaway to Cancún. In a series of Instagram videos starting March 27, 2025, the Chicago-based content creator shared her “heartbreak chronicles” and how she got out of the betrayal.
The subtle red flags
Jaxx described her heartbreak as someone grabbing her heart and stomping down on it multiple times. Well, it all started in early 2025, when her ex-girlfriend told her she'd been invited to join her cousins on a trip to California. "They're going to pay for everything; um, you know, they just want me to go hang out with them," the content creator said, recounting the conversation with her ex-girlfriend. Jaxx let it slide because she didn't want to come across as a possessive partner. However, she later asked her ex about her itinerary, which Jaxx's girlfriend refused to share. Then the other day, when she was dropping her off at O’Hare Airport, another red flag popped up. Jaxx looked up at the flight information and noticed no scheduled flight departing for California.
The Cancun clue
Jaxx kept on dismissing the clues until one day when she couldn’t anymore. Her girlfriend had stopped texting and FaceTiming her. She even refused to talk on the phone. Confused, Jaxx finally decided to investigate her ex's bag when she returned. A quick search revealed a few tags with an unknown girl's name and a label that read “Cancun.” The tags featured the same date as when her girlfriend returned from what she called the California trip.
The experience temporarily numbed Jaxx’s heart. She mentally checked out and detached from everything. While processing the helplessness and despair, thoughts of her past relationships came hovering in her mind, which she shared in a March 31, 2025, video. Before her ex-girlfriend, she had met a girl in 2014 who was very attentive and super charismatic. Impressed, Jaxx fell for her, and they eventually got married. Everything seemed fine until a day before their wedding anniversary, Jaxx realized her wife had been cheating on her with a man.
Infidelity crisis
'Infidelity' is a term most commonly associated with heterosexual relationships, but like Jaxx’s experience, they are just as prevalent otherwise. Cheating and heartbreak seem to be human conditions and mental habits grossly entrenched in the psyche of those who refuse to look into the mirror. A 2011 study published in Family Process, cited by GoMag, reported that cheating occurs in almost 8% of lesbian relationships and 59% of gay men. Similarly, a 2016 survey of over 63,000 people published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior concluded that, like other relationships, lesbians are equally upset whether it’s just sexual infidelity or emotional infidelity or both.

Meanwhile, viewers flooded the comments box with messages of empathy and prayers. For instance, @pretty_pretty_01 said, “That feeling sucks.” Similarly, @vadabetta added, "I’m just a random person on the internet, but I want you to know you are not stupid for trusting someone you love. So vent, cry, and allow yourself to heal. You’re a good person." @hildag,uirre1 commented, “You got this. You’re going to look back at this point in time and know it was a lesson you needed to learn to be the person you are meant to be.”
