The wedding preparations
Aliha and her fiancé's journey began during her senior year of high school, when he was introduced to her as her sister's friend. Over thirteen long years, they grew closer, and their bond eventually culminated in a long-awaited proposal. With the official engagement, wedding plans moved swiftly. The pair decided on a venue and caterers and even booked their bridal celebrations. Amidst preparations, Aliha left for Pakistan with her mother for three weeks for her bridal outfit fitting, and that's when things went downhill.
A stranger's DM
Trouble began during her Dubai layover, where she was waiting for a thirteen-hour flight to San Francisco. Her fiancé took unusually long to answer simple messages despite the twelve-hour time difference. Nonetheless, Aliha brushed it off and lined up to board the plane. However, as soon as she opened her Instagram message requests, she froze. Aliha saw a message from an unknown woman claiming her fiancé “wasn’t fishing last night.” She also revealed he was with her at a bar where they grabbed a drink, but once she realized he was engaged, she stepped back. "Nothing happened between us but I realized that he was engaged. I'm so sorry. I just looked at your Instagram. You look like a beautiful person," the woman told Aliha.
The shocking evidence
Stepping out of the boarding line, Aliha immediately called her fiancé to confront him. However, he repeatedly offered evasive stories, claiming he only went for drinks with male companions and calling her suspicions baseless. "It was just us. You're crazy," he argued. Yet her doubts solidified when she caught him unfollowing the other woman on Instagram shortly after the confrontation. Meanwhile, the other woman sent Aliha photographs showing that she had been in his car. When Aliha confronted her partner again, he scrambled with outlandish justifications.
She took a stand
Boarding the long-haul flight completely devastated, Aliha then spent the next thirteen hours frozen upright in her seat without food or water. "Kept hoping that I'm dreaming, this is a nightmare, and I'm going to wake up any second," she recalled. It wasn't until a kind passenger saved her a dinner plate that she ate something. Nonetheless, after landing in California, she told her fiancé not to pick her up but eventually agreed so they could talk about the situation. But to avoid confrontation, the man showed up with his mother and a bouquet. Although he attempted to sweet-talk his way out of things, Aliha refused to even look at him and told him to drop her off first and not to come back again.
