The internet felt that the parents were still in love with each other and the kids should continue inviting them out.
A couple's relationship is likely to affect their kids as well. So when parents go through a divorce, their children, especially adult ones, might try things to keep the family dynamics cordial. One divorced couple's children decided to add some fun to things by inviting both of them to dinner while not telling each person that their ex-partner would be coming in as well. The woman, who goes by @rodrivals on TikTok, shared her parents' reactions to seeing each other without prior notice.
"We invited my divorced parents to dinner without them knowing again," the woman wrote in the text overlay of the video. The mom was looking at the menu, completely unaware that the dad would be coming in, too. Their grandchildren and kids gave each other a knowing smile as the dad walked in. The man raised his glasses and gave the woman a long look before the mom noticed him. The woman seemed confused about whether she should smile or just barely acknowledge her ex-husband. Regardless, she went back to looking at the menu when the daughter asked the grandkid to move from beside his grandma and let grandpa sit there. The man pushed him toward his ex-wife while she pulled him toward her. The grandma expressed that he was alright where he was.
Eventually, the grandpa settled down and seemed to be looking at his ex-wife constantly. "Why is he staring at her though?" the woman wondered. The grandma noticed the staring and asked, "What are you looking at?" The old man simply made a face and said, "That looks good," while looking at his grandson's drink. "I always do, thank you," the woman answered instead, implying that the compliment was for her. "Oh my gosh!" the old man exclaimed. The family's bickering and laughter grabbed the staff's attention, who then came out to check on them. The staff started interacting with them and said something to the dad when the mom emphasized, "Be careful, your tip! Your tip." The daughter reassured them that they would be the ones paying, so they didn't need to worry.
"Mushrooms, jalapenos..." the dad was saying before the daughter interrupted him and said, "Wait, you don't need all the sides, Dad. You had all the sides during your marriage." The waitress chimed in, "That got me." The mom explained with a disgusted face, "That got me too." The video received more than 21 million views and over 1.9 million likes. People took to the comments section of the video to appreciate the funny relationship the parents shared with each other.
