Posted 7 years ago, this video is still making people emotional because of how the dad surprised his son with a thoughtful gift.
No one can understand a child's feelings better than a parent. That is probably why no one can pull a prank on a child better than their parent. They know exactly what would drive their kids up the wall and they use that to fool around with them. This father on the internet became popular for pulling one such prank on his son, which turned out to have a wholesome ending. Devon Fowler, @devonfowler3426 on YouTube, pretended to forget his son's birthday just to surprise him with the most thoughtful gift. The YouTube video from 2016 never fails to bring tears to the eyes, even after so many years.
At the beginning of the video, his son Braheim was so mad at his dad thinking that he forgot his 12th birthday. The boy was getting ready for his baseball game and was dressed up in his team's jersey. So, the dad asked, "Are you still mad at me?" to which the son gave him silent treatment. As the duo got into the car, preparing to leave for the game, the son didn't even look at his dad or respond to his questions. The dad tried to cheer him up by saying, "Big game today," but Braheim couldn't care less and he just hid his face behind his baseball cap.
The dad then asked the boy to go get something from the trunk. When Braheim opened the car's trunk, a surprise gift awaited him. He opened the box and instantly broke down in tears. It was a baseball bat that he always wanted. The dad wished him a happy birthday and said in a broken voice, "Don't cry. You're going to make me cry." Fowler reassured his son that he didn't forget about him and expressed his love. The boy was excited about the gift and hugged his dad. "You want to go to this game and hit some home run, right?" asked Fowler and his son nodded.
This 7-year-old video never gets old on the internet, as it is being shared on various platforms. People were moved to tears after seeing the beautiful father-son bonding moment. "He will remember these little moments for the rest of his life. Great father," commented @renandasilva9846. "Man, I love this! Someone’s cutting onions around me dammit! My father passed away 3 years ago. And he’s done stuff like this for me before. I’m so glad to see there are good men who know how to step up and be a father to their children. That means you are raising a man right there," wrote @christopherkimber7679. "You, my good sir, are part of the solution in this world. Keep up the great work with your son. Fathers in the home make all the difference!" commented @mattr9272.
A year later, Fowler posted another video of Braheim hitting the home run with the bat he had received as his birthday gift. The proud dad couldn't hold back his excitement as he caught his son's home run ball and screamed in joy. Just as his caption read, this moment indeed seemed "priceless." It was the most tear-jerking moment when the father yelled to his son, "Thank you. Thank you, Boo." With over a million views, this video also stole the internet's heart.
