Kid has the most wholesome reaction to NFL player Trey McBride being raised by same-sex parents

A child was beyond ecstatic after knowing that his favorite NFL player also had same-sex parents. After watching an interview by Greenlight podcast in which Arizona Cardinal tight end Trey McBride spoke about being raised by two moms, Forge was so inspired that he wanted to immediately buy the player's team's jersey even though he supported Buffalo Bills. However, when he received a package and a note from the NFL player, he couldn't believe what had happened. 

Talking about his parents in the podcast, McBride shared, "They've been great. Everyone in this league has been awesome, it is something that needs to be normalized. It is not something that isn't you know different. It is something that nowadays is becoming a lot more normal. I think it's something that is very special, something I'm very proud of. My parents have been huge advocates for me, huge supporters and I know no different. This is all I've known my whole life and this is very special to me." 

In a TikTok posted by @rainbowdads, a young boy named Forge was seen watching the same podcast. He opened a box he received from the NFL player and said, "This is my first non-Bills jersey." He took out a note by McBridge from the box and it read, "Forge, hope to see you all week 1. Hope you enjoy the jersey. I want you to know that it is cool to have same-sex parents." He added that they were in this together and that Forge had a bright future ahead of him. McBride signed off, "Got you a hat plus some gloves." 

Forge was seen wearing a Bills jersey underneath his new Arizona Cardinals jersey. He said that if the Bills scored he would pull up his white jersey for them and vice-versa. His dad read out another note that was written behind the jersey and it made the father emotional. It read, "Forge, follow your dreams. The world is yours." The child emoted, "Don't make me cry." It ended with Forge saying, "It seems like I have an older brother now. I'm so excited." 

The post garnered 379.7k views on TikTok and is captioned, "This is why representation matters so much. My son has not stopped smiling since getting his Jersey, gloves, and hat. He even got to talk to Trey and make dinner plans for week 1! I absolutely love how the NFL is changing and being a place for families like ours! Arizona Cardinals got a new fan, except they play the Buffalo Bills!" 

People loved the child's response and how McBride surprised him. @tikipure commented, "That boy is so sweet and well-rounded it’s just amazing!" @craftypynkscorpion wrote, "Omg now I’m crying! Love this!" @xthecoronaqueenx said, "I grew up with 2 moms. I wouldn’t have it any other way." @allonsy_lt shared, "With some of the other news this week, this is such a lovely reminder of how many kind and awesome people exist in the world."

In a follow-up video, Forge was seen Facetiming McBride and saying, "This year for my tackle football season I'm changing my number to 85." The NFL player was heard responding, "Really?" And then the kid went on to share how he hadn't taken off his jersey since last night. Forge also told him that he wanted to become a tight end like him and that McBride was an underrated player. 

McBride agreed with the kid and told him, "I just hope I can be a bright spot for you, man, because this is something we both are going through so it is important for both of us." He added that if Forge ever needed anything, he would be there for him. "You can reach out to me, call me, I'm always here for you," said the NFL player. Forge's dad, who was listening to the conversation, got emotional at this exchange.
