All of us have mused about life and death at some point. Sadly enough, none of us make a journey back from being dead to tell the tale of the afterlife. But "The Matrix" actor Keanu Reeves might have the most interesting answer to an equally interesting question related to death. The 59-year-old actor once appeared in a segment of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert," where he discussed the third installment of the "Bill and Ted" movie franchise with the talk show host.

During the 2019 interview, Reeves shared that the next film in the series is called "Bill and Ted Face The Music," which would bring the two protagonists in front of the audience after 25 years. The third "Bill and Ted" film was eventually released in 2020, where Bill and Ted realize that the fate of humanity and world peace depends on their ability to write a song. "You have to save the universe and write the song in like 80 minutes," Reeves joked. Colbert wondered what these two characters in the films were going to do about it since they hadn't written a song in 25 years. "What happens to you if you don't do this?" Colbert asked about the character's journey in the film.

"It's the end of the universe, time and space," Reeves answered. "So you are facing your mortality and all of existence?" the talk show host asked and the actor replied with a "yes." Then Colbert naturally asked the most important question of that segment. "What do you think happens to us when we die, Keanu Reeves?" "I know that the ones who love us will miss us," Reeves said, letting out a deep sigh. The studio audience, who were giggling at that point, quickly let out a collective "aww" after the actor's insightful response. Colbert paused for a few more seconds, looked at Reeves and then reached over to shake his hand. The segment closed with Colbert reminding the audience to catch the third installment of the "John Wick" movie, which was about to be released in theaters back then.

The "John Wick" actor is no stranger to tragedies in his life. He has lost some of his closest relatives and friends, according to PEOPLE. His best friend, actor River Phoenix, passed away from a drug overdose in 1993 when he was just 23 years old. Reeves' girlfriend Jennifer Syme, whom he met in 1998, gave birth to their stillborn baby daughter. Syme later passed away in a car crash in April 2001. At the same time, his fans were no strangers to the random acts of kindness that Reeves displayed towards them from time to time.

One Reeves fan u/afdc92 shared a sweet story on Reddit about their grandma having a crush on him and how the actor surprised her with a phone call. The Reddit user's uncle once spotted Reeves at a restaurant in Los Angeles and made sure to tell him how his mother had a crush on him. The actor showed how generous he is by requesting to get on a call with the 80-year-old woman. "He spoke with my grandmother for several minutes and it made her year. She was so isolated and his genuine kindness to her and interest in her showed what a truly amazing man he is," the Reddit user wrote.
