The judge felt that the couple set a really good example of having a great marriage spanning decades.
A couple who has been married for decades might form a fun and loving equation among themselves. It could be surprising or even amusing for people to witness. Similarly, a couple who had been summoned on "Caught in Providence" at Judge Frank Caprio's court amused the man with their fun banter. The couple was being charged for speeding but the judge felt that they set such a good example of a marriage that he paid their charges out of pocket.

"Who was driving the car?" Caprio asked Grady Smith and his wife, Eveline. The man immediately answered that he was the one driving the car and would like to take full responsibility. "What's the relationship between you and Eveline?" the judge asked next. "This is my wife. We've been together for 44 years." The judge asked how long they had been "happily married". The husband replied 44 while the wife said 2, making everyone in the room laugh. "Eveline, he has brought you 44 years of happiness," Caprio expressed, while the woman pressed her mouth into a thin line as if to show disappointment. But then she smiled a little and admitted that she was actually "very happy." The judge asked the woman why she was at the court when her husband was driving the car.
The woman said that she got the summons because the car was under her name. "I said, 'I am going to bring you here to the court.'" The judge wondered how the couple met as the man was from South Carolina and the woman was from Haiti, originally. "We were out dancing, we were at a club one night," the man began, but his wife immediately interrupted him. She recounted, "He was out in the club one night, I was just visiting a friend." Grady started telling the judge how he had approached his wife because he thought he liked her as Eveline vigorously shook her head at that. "Your honor, he's not telling the truth." The wife went on to tell her version of the story. "This was the first time I went to the club, your honor, I wanted to go home."
However, the person who brought her there couldn't take her home at the time, and she ended up seeing her now-husband and thought that he looked nice. "No, that's not right," the man disagreed with her as she patted his shoulder. "What's the secret to a long marriage?" Caprio asked next. "He's always agreeing on what I do," Eveline expressed. "Whatever I say, he says, 'Okay, baby.'" Some were quite surprised that the husband still called his wife baby. The judge then explained to the couple that their speeding charges would come up to $50 and asked if they would like to pay them the same day. The man initially disagreed, but his wife said that they would pay. He simply ended up saying, "Okay, baby," starting another round of laughter. The judge finally shared that they didn't have to pay and the charges would be paid from the "Filomena Fund," named after his mother. The money was to be used by the court for anyone whom they thought was worthy of it. "I think you two are worthy of it."
Many people took to the comments section of the video to praise the judge and the couple. Mercy Darlington wrote, "The secret to a lasting relationship is agreeing with your wife (God-fearing) over everything she says. Love it." Lili Verano commented, With a judge like him, I think of more blessings to come to him cause what you sow is what you reap." Karen Beisterveld remarked, "Watching from Mallorca, Spain. This judge should be a judge forever. He is amazing."
