As per Josh Duhamel, his firstborn Axl would be a 'great older brother' because he is a 'sweet kid' and 'loves babies.'
Becoming an elder brother or sister brings with it a lot of emotions. Fortunately, as per Josh Duhamel, his son has been nothing but positive when it comes to welcoming his sibling, as reported by Parade. Duhamel recently announced how he and his wife, Audra Mari are all set to welcome their first child in an Instagram post. The news earned congratulatory messages, noticeably from Duhamel's ex-wife Fergie. Duhamel shares a 10-year-old son named Axl with Fergie. The kid also seems to be nothing but happy about becoming a big brother. Duhamel shared an update regarding Axl's feelings in his interview.
Duhamel talked about how Axl initially reacted when the couple broke the news to him, "He's like, 'Wait, now, am I going to be — You're still going to love me, though, too, right?'” It is a very common reaction, as Axl's whole world was about to change, having to fit an individual in his personal circle. Duhamel responsibly handled the question and answered, “I was like, 'Of course, I'm going to still love you.' " Both of them then went ahead and reaffirmed with each other that even though a new person was coming, their bond would never get impacted and that Axl would always be Duhamel's firstborn.
After this, slowly and steadily Axl has come around the idea. Duhamel said about his son, "He's a really sweet kid. And he loves babies!" He further reflected on how he and Axl are similar in this regard, as he also loved kids around Axl's age. In his opinion, Axl will be a great big brother, since he is soft, gentle, and amicable to other kids around him. He has no worries that they will be a loving unit.
Duhamel, during his appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, talked about becoming a father a second time and how he seeks to handle his growing family. Kelly Ripa asked him how Axl was handling the news. The "Transformers" actor shared, "He's very excited. I don't think he quite understands that it's real. He will once he sees this little thing in front of him. I think I'm probably the same." Ripa chimed in by saying, that the couple is doing it at the right age, as 10 is a great time for boys to transform into a “prime big brother material."

"Yeah, I think it's going to be good for him because he's been an only child up to this point," Duhamel continued. "And now he's going to have some responsibility. He's excited. He's going to be a great older brother, too. He's a really sweet-natured kid who loves babies, so I think this is kind of perfect." Duhamel also shared with the hosts, how Axl has already picked a name for the baby, "Gary". Unfortunately, he and his wife are not on board. They have consoled him by promising that if they get a dog, he could be named "Gary", but they want something different for the baby.
As reported by People, Duhamel and his wife Audra Mari, tied the knot in September 2022. Their wedding occurred on the rooftop of Jasper Hotel, and they had their food and drinks after the ceremony, in Duffy's, a local place. Their engagement was announced on Instagram, with the caption, "She found a message in a bottle that washed ashore and said YES!! @audramari."
