John Legend is officially the sexiest man alive and everyone wishes they were Chrissy Teigen

From winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony, to marrying funniest and also simultaneously hottest woman alive Chrissy Teigen, musician John Legend seems to have it all. Now that he's been named PEOPLE Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive, he truly does have it all. The 40-year-old singer received the distinguished title earlier this week and joins a long list of Hollywood’s hottest men, starting with Mel Gibson in 1985. He was crowned by The Voice co-star and former Sexiest Man Alive Blake Shelton on an episode of the television show.

In conversation with PEOPLE Magazine, he revealed, "I was excited, but I was a little scared at the same time because it’s a lot of pressure. Everyone’s going to be picking me apart to see if I’m sexy enough to hold this title. I’m [also] following Idris Elba, which is not fair and is not nice to me!" Speaking of just how unfair Legend thought the decision to be, he decided to take to social media platform Twitter to explain further - and it appears that the All of Me singer may just be slightly confused about winning the title. "1995 John would be very perplexed to be following 2018 Idris Elba as Sexiest Man Alive," he wrote. "Hell, 2019 John is about as equally perplexed but thank you, PEOPLE, for finding me sexy. I'll take it." He also posted a photo of him from 1995 alongside a photo of actor and hottie predecessor Idris Elba.

He was equally humble when Shelton crowned him during an episode of The Voice. Accepting a pair of booty shorts which had the acronym "VEGTOSMA" bedazzled on the back (VEGOTSMA stands for all the awards he's won - The Voice, an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony, and now, Sexiest Man Alive), he said, "I don’t know what to say. I want to thank, of course, PEOPLE Magazine, but mostly I want to thank Blake Shelton because I sat next to him for the last few months and I learned his sexy ways. I observed every move he made, every utterance that came from his mouth and I think some of it rubbed off on me. I think that has everything to do with why we’re here today."

But don't let the title fool you. Legend is more than just a pretty face. He's also equal parts talented and great at being a family man. He shared, "I’m so proud that I have a wife and two kids I’m so in love with and so connected to. I’m also so proud of my career. I love writing songs and performing on stage. I get a lot of joy from it and give a lot of joy to other people. I’m pretty at ease with myself now!" For those of us swooning over his oh-so-steamy pics from the upcoming edition of PEOPLE Magazine, we're pretty "at ease" too... If you know what I mean.
