In today's fast-paced job environment, more individuals recognize the importance of having a healthy work-life balance. Maintaining such a balance will help an individual with their overall well-being and long-term success. It's also important to note that such a decision has become a necessity rather than a personal choice in present times. TikTok user Janice (@travelwithjannn) had a very interesting job interview interaction that she shared on the social media site.

The woman can be seen cooking in her kitchen while she tells viewers about her interview experience. She jumps straight into the matter, saying, "I had an interview where the employer told me that they are looking for someone who doesn't value work-life balance to fill that role." Janice mentioned that her employer specifically mentioned that they did not want a person seeking a healthy work-life balance for the role. They insisted that they needed someone who was "driven and ambitious."

The employer wanted someone who would work as their partner in the company but refused to give them any sort of rest. She also clarified in the caption that even though the job was listed as a hybrid position, the employer required her to be onsite for five days a week. Her interaction showcases how employers put up unrealistic demands on employees and expect them to deliver. The woman concluded the video, saying, "If that doesn't sum up what it's like looking for a job in 2023. I don't really know what does."

Unfortunately, she resided in New York, which meant that her cost of living was quite high. In order to stay there, she had to share an apartment in downtown Manhattan to be able to afford rent. After living there for some time, she was fortunate enough to receive a job offer for a consulting job located in Paris. She was initially reluctant to take the job but went ahead with it anyway.

Upon moving there, she faced lower living costs and was even able to afford an apartment for herself without getting any roommates. She added, "On top of that, the additional paid vacation time is just insane. I went from three weeks of paid time off in New York City to having seven weeks — legal minimum — paid time off in Paris." Living in Europe also allowed her to make trips to other European countries during the weekend.

Soldana further mentioned that she could eat out more often because of reasonable prices in Paris. She concluded by saying that the ex-pat community in France was well-established, which meant that it was easier for Americans to migrate and build a new life there.
