Jennifer Aniston took to Instagram remembering her beloved co-star and friend who passed away last month.
Matthew Perry is being remembered by his 'friends,' nearly a month after his death. The 54-year-old actor died from an apparent drowning on October 28 and his real-life friend and former co-star on the hit show "Friends," Jennifer Aniston, is reflecting on their friendship. Perry, who was known for his comedic role in the show, proved to be just as wholesome in person as he aimed to spread smiles whenever he could. In her Instagram tribute, she posted a photo of the pair on set together, a sweet text exchange and a picture of a scene of the duo during the sitcom's 2004 series finale.
"Oh boy this one has cut deep... Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before," the 54-year-old star wrote in the caption, "We all experience loss at some point in our lives. Loss of life or loss of love. Being able to really sit in this grief allows you to feel the moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone that deep. And we loved him deeply. He was such a part of our DNA."

Perry, who played the forever-funny character Chandler Bing, was hilarious in real life too, his longtime pal asserted. "We were always the six of us. This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be," Aniston continued, "For Matty, he knew he loved to make people laugh. As he said himself, if he didn't hear the 'laugh' he thought he was going to die. His life literally depended on it. And boy did he succeed in doing just that. He made all of us laugh. And laugh hard."
She pulled out one of her favorite text conversations with the late actor. "In the last couple of weeks, I've been poring over our texts to one another. Laughing and crying then laughing again. I'll keep them forever and ever. I found one text that he sent me out of nowhere one day. It says it all," she said. The text in question from Perry reads, "Making you laugh just made my day. It made my day," alongside a photo of the pair chuckling while reading a script. "Awww the first of thousands of times," Aniston had responded. In her caption, she continued, “Matty, I love you so much and I know you are now completely at peace and out of any pain." She confessed that she talks to him every day. "Sometimes I can almost hear you saying, ‘Could you be any crazier?’ Rest little brother. You always made my day,” she ended the post.

Previously, Aniston broke into tears, frightened over the thought of ever losing him. In a 2004 interview with Diane Sawyer, Aniston broke down while speaking about the struggles of helping Matthew Perry with his drug and alcohol addiction. When Sawyer asked Aniston what it was that Perry didn't know about himself but he needed to hear, she got teary-eyed and replied, “That he’s alright.” Talking about his struggle with his addiction, Aniston said while wiping off her tears, “He struggled. We didn’t know. We weren’t equipped to deal with it. Nobody had ever dealt with that. And the idea of even losing him, he’s having a road. But he’s alright.”
According to US Weekly, Perry struggled with his addiction to Vicodin ever since his 1997 jet ski accident. This eventually turned into alcohol abuse and led to his hospitalization in 2000 for alcohol-induced pancreatitis. In 2022, the late actor candidly discussed his story in his memoir, "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing" hoping to empower others who are battling addiction.
