The entitled manager thought she could effortlessly take the credit until the truth spoke for itself.

The whole purpose of working hard, dedicating loyalty, and providing results is so the company can grow as well as the employee. Giving dues where it's called for, offering space for experimenting, and even taking the lead can be positive traits — if you have the right boss. An employee who goes by u/VisionAri_VA revealed that when she tried to put her best self out there, it was only undermined and met with jealousy by her manager. The woman asked her to remain quiet during meetings in front of the supervisor, and so this employee complied — but in a way that she might never forget.

Since she had been putting in her time and hard work, it was only fair that she got a chance to share that and get the due credit and recognition for it. Unfortunately, her toxic manager was more jealous and entitled than supportive and leading. “My manager did NOT like that; she didn’t want anyone else getting any kind of recognition for the project. So I was instructed to sit there and keep my mouth shut,” she noted.

The woman decided to do what she was told. Whether it was a decision from thoughtful reflection or it just happened to work in her favor is unknown. “The next status meeting came around, and I did just what she told me to do: I sat there, taking notes and saying nothing,” she mentioned. Things seemed to work brilliantly for the credit-hogging manager until the supervisor started asking questions about the project. The employee noted that the manager “couldn’t answer because she was the only person attached to the project who did not actually work on it.” The entitled woman got “furious,” but she had to admit that she needed the employee.

“After that disaster, I was allowed to attend and participate,” she shared. According to Flex Jobs, around 87% of employees have worked with at least one toxic boss during their career. 49% of toxic managers are passive-aggressive and micromanage employees. Around 41% of these managers are dismissive, and 43% professionals quit due to such negligent superiors. There’s no better feeling than to let justice do its work while you sit and watch. The manager had to humble herself and team up with the employee, and it was passive revenge at its finest. “This happened years ago but it still makes me grin, Grinch-style,” the employee noted.

People applauded the woman for doing what she was told and letting actions speak for themselves. u/robjeffery said, “I have seen this play out as a third party in many project meetings. It's very clear to everyone what is going on and I love sharing a smile with the actual silent adult in the room.” u/likeablyweird added, “What if every time the VP heard her name attached to a project, he asked to speak to the people who were really doing the job. Hehe.”
