The American fashion model who is mom to a 6-month-old, Holland, shares how capturing the most random memories carries weight when one looks back.
While the world is busy capturing picture-perfect memories, life goes by. All the laughter, love and light pass by and would not it be an absolute delight to have them captured for the years to come? Many parents focus on happenings and family pictures that are staged or planned. However, American fashion model and mom Ireland Baldwin shared that the mundane, regular, spontaneous memories are the ones to be captured and the ones parents must be appreciative of. In an Instagram post, the model shared random glimpses of her time with her family at home and penned a heartwarming caption.
The model is a mom of a 6-month-old daughter, Holland, who often shares memories with her family on her social media. Lately, she has also been posting meaningful captions for fellow parents to ponder and to grasp the wholesomeness of family life and being a parent. With a carousel post of 10 images, Baldwin penned a caption that fits each picture perfectly. Starting with a cozy and adorable family picture in the snow, Baldwin is seen with her husband and daughter. While it may seem less random, the next pictures perfectly describe “mundane” in its truest sense. With a picture of her daughter crawling over a bed, the caption connected perfectly.

In her caption, Baldwin wrote that she wished to divert from capturing just her baby and dog. “I decided I wanted to start using a real camera to capture more everyday moments of not only the dogs and baby (my usual test subjects) but of the many fleeting, cozy winter moments, the developing projects in our home, and not just the highlights, but the mundane, everyday stuff,” she wrote. The next picture consisted of Baldwin’s daughter and husky sitting in the snow like a perfectly random duo. The next was followed by Baldwin pressing a little pig’s nose gently.

The pictures were all taken out of the blue and more than the photogenic factor, it was clear that time and memory were prioritized. The next picture was Baldwin with another woman and their respective children, sitting in a swing without any pre-arrangement. “One of my favorite things to do now that I didn’t appreciate as much when I was younger is to look back at old photos from when I was a kid,” the caption continued. Baldwin also added that her interest lies more in photos that “captured the bigger life moments.”

Perfectly blending with the statement were the next two pictures of a close-up of Baldwin’s daughter’s dress with chickens embroidered and an illuminating lampshade. Very ordinary pictures that hold a million memories and experiences. Baldwin shared a picture of her other dogs in hilariously cute but unplanned poses, which added to the charm of the entire post. “I love the in-between photos from the roll where you could see the state of my house, my 90’s/early 2000’s toys, what I was into, what my parents wore, etc.,” Baldwin added in her caption alongside a picture of her altar with lights and statues.

Baldwin’s pictures perfectly capture the idea of “mundane.” Though they may not be picturesque, they hold a million thoughts and expressions and it is these pictures that the mom model is refocusing on. “I’m going to try and make an effort to give Holland the same opportunity to be able to reminisce the way I have been lately. It’s weirdly emotional and healing to look back on,” she concluded. @artipoppe said, “Little moments make the biggest memories.” @coupondelite said, “You explained this so perfectly! Those background moments tell the story of the bigger picture.”
