Have you ever wondered what life would have been like for people 50 or 100 years ago? Good thing for you, Wolf of X (@tradingMaxiSL), a page on X, shared glimpses of it in a thread that featured various pictures from around the world. The images showed families from the US in the 1950s to people having a snowball fight in the 1800s in France. It also illustrated how, despite the people in the images being from a different era, they were very similar to folks today. People on the platform enjoyed seeing these pictures.

The post is captioned, "Ever wondered what everyday life was like for people living 50, 100 or more years ago? A rare thread." The first picture is of a family from the USA in 1959 who genuinely look happy. The husband and wife are seen with their two sons. The second photograph is of a crowded Atlantic City beach in 1908, where people are gathered in groups, enjoying their time together on the shore. The third image is an adorable picture of a young girl surprised by her dad's skills. It is captioned, "Dad showing off his skill to the surprise of his little daughter in Melbourne, Australia, 1940s." The next one is a video of people enjoying a snowball fight on the streets of Lyon, France, in 1896. It shows both men and women, who are even seen throwing snowballs at passersby

The fourth picture shows a housewife posing with a week's worth of groceries in 1947. It is captioned, "She spent a total of $12.50 a week (not including milk) to buy her groceries. On this budget, she is able to feed herself, her husband, her four-year-old twins, and her cat." The image also highlights how prices have increased over time, making it impossible to afford the same groceries at that price today. The next photo is of a man from 1957 using a stick to activate his camera, resembling how people use tripods to take selfies nowadays. The thread also includes a picture of three boys standing in front of a store called 'The Irish House' in Dublin in 1962. Following that, there is a video of women and men cycling on the streets of Amsterdam in 1922, which is fitting since it remains one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world.

Another picture is of kids doing remote learning during a polio outbreak in the 1940s, and one of them is seen trying to listen to the radio through which teachers are reading lessons. This photograph is reminiscent of the COVID-19 pandemic days when children took their classes through video calls with their teachers. After this, there is a colorized video from 1906 in which English children seem stunned looking at a camera for the first time.

The thread also includes a picture of Times Square from 1948. It is captioned, "A rare negative reveals Times Square NYC in color, circa 1948." There is also an interesting picture of a French woman walking and carrying a baguette in one hand and six bottles of wine in the other. It is from Paris, 1945. It was the year when the first post-war municipal elections were held and women voted for the first time. The thread ends with a picture of a bread delivery man with bags filled with baguettes on a snowy street in Quebec in 1977.

People on the platform loved the post. @sharonpalm198 commented, "Very interesting and enjoyable thread." @johnachterhof wrote, "So many great shots that put a smile on your face." @MissyAmericaUSA expressed, "That was really fun. Thank you." @richkharding said, "Everyone looks happier and healthier." @USAVladimir commented, "The '80s and '90s were arguably the best years to be alive in the USA. Technology was evolving, comfort increasing and quality of life was unbelievable, yet people still had morals and I personally attribute that to having a fear of God."
