It's one thing to be replaced by a cheaper hire at your job, but to see your long-term efforts get passed on effortlessly to someone is a whole new level of disappointment. Many employees go out of their way to put their heart and soul into their jobs bringing substantial profits to their organization. This worker on Reddit, u/skittleALY was one such employee who strived to figure out and revamp their company's processes all by themselves. Little did they know that their boss would try to get rid of them when he found an overseas worker for 75% less salary to take over.

Being the office manager of a local painting company for a year, the worker had dedicated their full potential to bringing profits to the business. "When I started, I had no help and had to figure everything out on my own, including revamping many of our processes," they wrote. Their sole effort brought down the company's previously neglected accounts receivables to nearly zero. So, when their boss felt that this worker had figured it all out he decided to outsource their role to a girl in the Philippines. An overseas worker who was ready to do the job for less than a quarter of the current office manager's salary.

The Filipino girl might demand a lesser pay but she needed a lot of training. "To add insult to injury, he's expecting me to provide a detailed, step-by-step transition and train my replacement before I leave," the employee mentioned. The boss wanted them to pass on everything they worked for to the new girl like a "Bible," for the job responsibilities. "I find it strange and frustrating that I'm expected to create a comprehensive guide and train the person who's taking my job, especially when I had to figure it all out by myself," they added. Also, the boss offered the employee a $2000 bonus to stay a while longer without deliberately pointing out that it was for the training.

"He's expecting me to set up meetings with her next week to go over painter payments, job postings, painter expectations, scheduling, customer requests and invoicing at a minimum," the employee explained. They resorted to the internet after feeling helpless about how to handle this situation. "I want to maintain my professionalism, but I also don't think it's reasonable to provide a detailed, step-by-step guide for someone who's being hired to replace me at a fraction of my salary, especially after I've made significant contributions to the company's financial health," they added. Hundreds of users rallied around in the employee's support condemning the boss's unreasonable expectations.

"You 1,000% do not train this individual. Your boss receives what they pay for and they are choosing to not pay for your services any longer. $2,000 as an exchange for replacing you is such an insult," noted u/kteegarden1988. "Quit. Don’t train her. The end. You’re not being unprofessional for not training your imported replacement," said u/Eastern-Weight6048. "A few more options - counter offer $20,000 to train her, call in sick, or just say no. What is he going to do, fire you?" suggested u/josh_who_hah.
