Internet abuzz trying to guess the actual singer among 13 in this Acapella ensemble

While many trends come and go on the internet, some are so timeless that whenever it pops up people are interested. For instance, playing the optical illusion games and guessing the singer from the group never goes out of style. In April, one such "guessing game" gained popularity making people scratch their heads over who is the actual singer among a group of girls lip-syncing to a song. An all-female acapella group from the University of South Florida named Rocky's Angels shared the video which garnered over 13 million views but very few could get the answer right.

The 19-second video shows 13 girls lip-synching to the 1969 song "I Want You Back," by the Jackson 5. However, only one voice can be heard singing the lyrics, "Oh, baby, give me one more chance to show you that I love you. Won't you please let me back in your heart? Oh, darlin', I was blind to let you go. But now since I see you in his arms." No matter how deeply one observes, it would seem as though the voice could belong to any of the 13 girls. Every one of them was on point in lipsyncing the verses and some even managed to deceive people with their body language and expressions.

More than 3700 comments poured in with many chiming in their guesses. "I actually can't figure it out and it's driving me insane," said @juicysocks. "Maroon colored shirt with the blue jeans and brown belt," noted @steampunkdragon2448. "This is the hardest I’ve ever come across," said @lemoninfused. "Blue shirt bottom left. You can see her take the deep breaths in between the lyrics," added @sammiejo200111. "The way that none of them look right enough for my brain," added @user083757837473884.

Although many were fixated on the one with the maroon tank top and the one with the "Got consent?" t-shirt, some managed to find the right answer after watching the video multiple times. Five days after driving people insane over the actual singer, the group shared the "long-awaited" answer. As a few users guessed in the first video, it was the girl in braids wearing a "wolf" t-shirt. For the reveal, the group came together to sing the same song. At the beginning, we could once again hear only one voice singing the lyrics to "I Want You Back."

When the lines, "Oh, baby, give me one more chance," begin, everyone turns around in the direction of the so-called "wolf t-shirt" girl, Abbey implying that she is the one. This time the group gave the audience an acapella version of the song with Abbey as the lead. The video garnered over 1.6 million views and many were in disbelief about the reveal. "It’s right in front of my eyes and I still don’t believe it," said @lacirhamilton. "What a powerhouse! She barely has to open her mouth and so clear amazing," exclaimed @prvse. While some thought that they couldn't find the answer in the previous video because Abbey was lip-syncing to her own voice, the Rocky's Angels replied, "I promise you everything was recorded live."
