Behaving properly with service staff and giving them a good tip is considered basic decency in most scenarios. While some people simply choose not to leave a tip, others take it a step further by behaving rudely with their servers. A Kansas server, Noah Bierig, had to deal with a rude customer who not only didn't leave a tip but also wrote a homophobic slur in the column instead of the tip money. The server's mom shared the receipt of the order along with the slur that the person had written on Facebook. The post was reshared by Chris Evans, who goes by @notcapnamerica on X.

The caption read, "James Blick of Wichita, KS, wrote the word “F**” on a 19-year-old server’s receipt instead of a tip. Now he’s begging for forgiveness after the server posted the receipt online." The server works at Bubba’s 33 near Town East Square, as per KSN News. "I knew that these people probably didn’t agree with who I was as a person, but I figured that it wasn’t going to get to me, that I was going to give them the best service that I possibly could and hopefully, I might just change their ways through that. It didn’t really happen," Bierig told the outlet, pointing out how the people at the table were glaring at him.

“Every time I walked away, it was hard to ignore the laughing that I would hear from that table. When they were paying, they were being pretty rude about that as well, just a bunch of laughing about who I am as a person even though they don’t know me," the 19-year-old recounted. When he picked up the receipt, he saw the slur scrawled on it. "What I saw on that receipt did hurt me. It was just completely unexpected, out of the blue, not something that I would expect to see on a regular Sunday." The boy sent a photo to his mom, who posted the receipt on Facebook. It received a lot of attention and the family started receiving donations because the community wanted to stand by them.

However, the server didn't want to keep the money for himself and use it to fight against bullying and discrimination against gay people instead. "It was my mom’s idea. She just told me about this cool charity she had found when she was looking, called GLSEN, and she told me exactly what it was," Bierig revealed. The charity works to make the educational environment of LGBTQ youth better and to prevent bullying. He eventually ended up giving a check worth $2,200 to the organization with the memo, "LoveWins." The boy expressed that he had never witnessed such a level of homophobia ever before to KAKE News.

After the receipt went viral online, the customer received a bunch of messages and comments from people on the internet. He issued an apology in which he wrote, "I know it was wrong of me to write what I did and for that, I am very sorry. The overall dining experience wasn't that great and I shouldn't have dealt with it by saying what I did." The man mentioned that he had tried to contact the restaurant to apologize to the server but couldn't reach out to him. Bierig told KSN News, "I feel that being able to spread this message and showing how far something like this can come off of one word that he wrote on a receipt, I think that’s just going to do so much better for this country, for the world."
