The husband, still madly in love with his wife, shared that she's his best friend and he's still chasing her even at 42.
Some love stories are destined to be. No matter how many obstacles stand in the way, true lovers find their way back to each other. Well, some love stories feel like they are straight out of a romance novel. Take the example of this man, who goes by u/same_lecture3858 on Reddit. He shared how he and his wife overcame all odds and how he stayed pretty adamant about being with her since eighth grade. The duo met in school, and the man instantly fell head-over-heels for his future wife. However, his lady love was too headstrong to recognize the chemistry between them. But as they say, fate had other plans that eventually brought them back together, and this time forever.
"When I was in 8th grade, I told a girl in 10th grade I was going to marry her one day. She laughed and told me 'no' every time I said it. But I was resilient—I kept saying it anyway. Every time she brushed me off, I just smiled and told her, 'You’ll see,'" the man revealed. Interestingly, the girl's father was even aware of him and would often find a way to playfully tease his daughter by bringing up his name. Everything was picture-perfect until life happened and the duo had to move in different directions after high school. "We both moved on and had our own struggles and for years, it seemed like that promise I made was just a childhood dream," the man added. In their mid-twenties, the duo met again, and this time "everything just clicked."
The man was still attracted to her, and they eventually got into a relationship and got married. "We’ve now been together for 19 years, married for 15, and I wouldn’t change a thing. We spent $50 on our wedding band set and $60 for the ceremony," he revealed. Furthermore, he shared a sweet anecdote from their wedding when, while reading the vows, he looked into his partner's eyes and said, "I told you so," recalling his childhood promise. Additionally, on their 10th wedding anniversary, his wife composed a song called "Bobby, You Told Me So" to make their special day even more memorable. "She is still my best friend, and I'm still chasing her just as hard at 42 as I did at 14! Sometimes, life really does come full circle," the man shared.

There’s a person who said this to me once; I hope he keeps his word. I’d love to be his wife one day. Wishing you two a continued life of mutual chasing and smiles!" u/69edgy420 shared, "Women want a fairy tale wedding. You delivered on that with your eighth-grade legwork and an 'I told you so.' Congratulations, man!"
u/slowentrepreneur7586 revealed, "I met my husband at work in 2004, right after I married another man. Well, that a****** broke my arm after a month of 'wedding bliss,' so that marriage was over before it started. My husband and I became best friends and were for years. He even drove me to work every day. We spent all our time together but were just friends. Until one day, he wrote me this long letter saying that he couldn’t drive me to work anymore because he was in love with me and couldn’t stand it anymore! Turns out I felt exactly the same way, and it was the easiest transition ever. Many years and two kids later, he still drives me everywhere. Man, I love being with my best friend; it never gets old!"
