Identical twins test whether their toddlers and dogs can tell them apart and it went just as expected

Sammie Nowakowski and Stephanie Buckman (@toxtwins) are identical twins. They don't just look exactly the same, but surprisingly have a lot more in common. In fact, the twin sisters coincidentally met their husbands on the same day and also welcomed kids just weeks apart. In June 2023, they posted a video on Instagram, testing whether their kids could tell them apart, and the result was just hilarious.

To make things more confusing, both sisters wore the same black outfits and sat down with their arms open. Buckman sat on the left, and Nowakowski sat beside her. At first, Noah, Buckman's son, was put to the test, and he passed with flying colors, but then the sisters swapped seats, and he could no longer choose his real mother. Maddie, Nowakowski's daughter, however, was hands-on in the game. Every time she had to pick her mom, she did it right without any confusion. The twin sisters thought it would also be exciting to see if Buckman's dog, Milo, could tell them apart, and guess what? The dog also passed with flying colors as Milo could immediately recognize his rightful owner.

Nowakowski and Buckman are extremely close, and so are their husbands and kids. In fact, the sisters had always dreamt of moving into their dream homes next to each other, and they, in fact, did fulfill that dream. So, now, after sharing similar clothes, lifestyle, and even golden retrievers from the same litter, Nowakowski and Buckman also have identical houses next to each other. "It has been so much fun doing life together because we are all very similar and get along. We all work in healthcare, had our babies three weeks apart, and now we get to live next door to each other and raise our families side by side," Buckman told TODAY.

For Nowakowski, she said life is convenient because they are always together. "What's better than living next to your best friends?" she asked. The sisters want to expand their families further and confessed that they would love to have babies at around the same time again. Recognizing who's who between twins is more difficult than it looks. Apart from looks, twins often exhibit similar habits, which makes it even more difficult for people to tell them apart. In fact, Steven Pinker, a Canadian psychologist and psycholinguist, said, "Identical twins think and feel in such similar ways that they sometimes suspect they are linked by telepathy. When separated at birth and reunited as adults, they say they feel they have known each other all their lives."

Meanwhile, reacting to the video, @devindesu2.0 commented, "Well, it certainly adds credence to the claim that males don't notice the subtleties about women as much as they would like us to." @dirtroadmomlife wrote, "My mom and her twin are not identical, but they looked and sounded so similar (in their early 30s) when I was little, they could trick me. They still start talking the same when they get around each other. And they're 73 years old now!"

Similarly, @deco1818designs said, "This brings back so many memories! My mom has an identical twin, and I remember so clearly that the other day I went up to her, calling her 'Mommy!' She looked at me and said, 'I’m not your mommy!' That was 68 years ago!" @mrs.parker3191 commented, "Hahaha, I love this! We used to have this same problem with my mom and her twin; now my kids can’t figure it out either when she visits."
