In 2018, journalist Ana Kasparian lashed out at conservatives for attempting to ban abortion on the basis of the Bible. She reminded those against abortion that America is run according to the constitution and not the Bible. The conservative movement to overturn Roe v. Wade and to deny women the right to reproductive freedom is based on conservatives' interpretation of Christianity. Ana Kasparian's 2018 rant against those using the Bible to justify controlling women's bodies resurfaced in the wake of a leaked document showing the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, which protects the right to get an abortion. "I don’t care what the Bible says," she said in an episode of The Young Turks. "You do not get to dictate the way I live my life based on your religion."

Ana Kasparian reminded anti-abortion activists that the constitution gave her the right to not believe in Christianity and protected her life from being dictated by other people's faith. "I don’t care if you’re Christian. In fact, I will fight for you to have your religious liberty and practice your Christianity. I believe in that," she said in a passionate speech. "I don’t believe in Christianity, which means that you do not get to dictate the way I live my life based on your religion. I don’t care what the Bible says."

Kasparian added that people had every right to live their lives according to their own interpretation of the Bible without imposing those views on others. "You have every right in the world; all those women who identify with your religion have every right in the world to not get an abortion, to not take birth control. But they do not have the right to dictate my life and what I decide to do with my body. I don’t care about your goddamn religion," she said. "I’m so tired of having non-stop conversations about what the Bible says. You live your life in the way that you interpret the Bible. Again, I don’t care. But you don’t get to take the Bible and tell me well the Bible says this in this chapter in this verse. I don’t care. I don't believe in it and I have the right, based on our constitution, to not believe in it."

Kasparian also called out the hypocrisy of "pro-lifers" and Republicans, in particular, stating they don't care for a baby after it's born. "We don't even have paid family leave. We don't even have affordable child care in this freaking country. And the people who fight against those kinds of laws are Republicans. What do you want them to do with their kids when they have to go to work? What do you want them to do?" asked Kasparian, before urging journalists to ask Republicans to explain their stance.

She also called out Democrats for not doing anything about the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned, especially given they have control of the House and Senate and have a Democrat president in Joe Biden. “If we’re going to sit around and wait for our elected lawmakers to protect us from these religious zealots and these right-wing authoritarians, man we have another thing coming,” said Kasparian. “How many times do we need to be disappointed by them? I’m done with them.” She reiterated that she was only making a personal opinion. “The Democratic Party, every single one of them, that includes the Squad. I don’t care anymore,” she said. “They have not delivered. They have not delivered. I’m done. It’s time to organize, create organizations that get women and get people in this country what they need, people who are willing to pick up the slack for these disgusting, feckless, corrupt politicians.”
