Husband saves wive's pregnancy celebration most adorably: 'This man is ready to be a dad'

From getting a blue or pink onesie to balloons with confetti of a certain color and cakes with blue or pink icing inside, a cute gender reveal is quite popular on social media these days. However, Elyssa Joy Klaasen–who goes by @elyssajoy_ on Instagram–found herself in a fix when things did not pan out how she planned them during her baby's gender reveal. But a simple thing that her husband did make the celebration cuter than the originally planned one. The video has gone viral, garnering nearly 2 million views and 182k likes.

As the video begins, the couple is seen sitting on the grass beside a cake with white icing topped with blueberries and strawberries. The enthusiastic couple dug into the cake with champagne glasses to see what color the filling inside was. Unfortunately, instead of being blue or pink, the cake was green. "Green!" the man exclaimed. "It's not supposed to be green," the woman responded, on the verge of tears. "It needs to be a color, right?" the husband asked. At this point, the wife's pregnancy hormones hit hard and she started crying. The husband put down the glass and tried to console her as she said, "I try my best."

He convinced her everything was still alright as he didn't know the baby's gender yet. The man hugged her and told her they could do something different. He explained that he would turn around so Klaasen could pick out a strawberry or a blueberry and then put it in his mouth. He would know the baby's gender through the taste of the fruit. She picked out a blueberry and put it in her husband's mouth. "Oh, we're having a boy! Are you kidding," the dad asked. His wife answered she was not kidding and they were actually having "Baby John," the dad's name. The couple was super excited and started celebrating.

Klaasen captioned the video, "The most wholesome gender reveal ever." Nonetheless, she questioned her husband if he really did not know if the baby was a boy after seeing the green cake, simply because green is closer to blue on the color wheel. But John had noticed many signs during his wife's pregnancy that said it was a girl according to the old wives' tales. He was convinced that it was going to be a girl. "Oh my god, this failed but was so adorable," the wife expressed.

People took to the comments to applaud the unique fruit gender reveal and the wholesome save by the husband. @floralcoralkief wrote, "The way he quickly helped her regulate and laugh off the situation, and still had the most awesome reaction. He knew exactly what needed to be done in the situation and began by reassuring his wife that everything was fine. He didn't make her feel inadequate in any way, immediately came up with a solution, and made her feel cared for and loved."
