Old age can get lonely and the holidays are supposed to be a happy time for everyone, regardless of age. This was something Emma Noyes' husband understood well. In a video recently shared on Instagram by Emma (@emmanoyesmaybe), she and her husband surprised her grandmother, lovingly called "Gramsie," with a visit. Her grandmother's emotional reaction deeply moved viewers.
"When you ask your husband what he wants to do this weekend and he says he wants to drive to Indiana to have a sleepover with your gramsie at her independent living facility," read the overlay text in the video. In the video, Noyes’ grandmother is seen gasping with joy, rising to embrace him and expressing how much she missed him. "My husband never met his grandparents, but my Gramsie adopted him as another grandson the day they met," Noyes captioned the heartfelt clip.
In an interview with Newsweek, Noyes shared details about the spontaneous plan. "We'd talked about visiting her a few times this fall, but our schedules never quite lined up," Noyes said. "Last weekend, they finally did, and when my husband suggested we make the drive, I was all for it. Even at 91 years old, she's the most spirited, hilarious person I know, and we treasure every moment with her."
The comment section overflowed with heartfelt messages praising the family and their touching bond. "A man that loves your family with his whole heart like this is a keeper," read a comment by @sb081990. "I’m sobbing. I just lost my grandma and she was my whole world. Hug your grandparents while you can and make sure they know how much you appreciate them," added @april_rivas49. @curls_n_whorls shared, "My husband talked to my Grandad once a week on the phone before he died. They had such a special relationship! Grandad loved all his grandkids, but as a college professor he lived talking to my husband as he worked on his PhD."
Grandparents bring immense joy and significance to our lives, and their bonds often leave lasting impressions. In another heartwarming story of grandmotherly love, a group of 15 teenagers stepped up to support a grandmother after her grandson’s tragic passing. Sam Crowe, a 15-year-old, had a cherished tradition of sharing Thursday breakfasts with his grandma, Peggy Winckowski. Along with his friends, he would bring love and laughter into her home, where they affectionately called her “Grandma Peggy.” However, in 2022, tragedy struck when Crowe lost his life in a car crash, leaving 66-year-old Winckowski heartbroken. In her grief, the teens rallied around her, keeping the tradition alive. “We were all grieving with Grandma. She’s family to all of us, and Sam was too,” said Jeremy Roeder, one of the teens. Now, two years later, their Thursday breakfast tradition endures. "To be 15 and lose your best friend, it’s got to be so hard for them to understand. There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t speak of Sam," the grandmother told The Washington Post.
