The incident only flared up the suspicions Mikayla's client already had in mind after she spotted an iced coffee in the fridge

Entrepreneur Mikayla (@blonde_bombshell) was jolted into a tough ethical dilemma while she was cleaning the house of one of her clients in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In a May 23, 2026 Instagram video, she recounted the moment when she became the unwilling witness to a secret affair of her client’s spouse. While she was cleaning, her client’s husband entered the house with his mistress. The discovery created intense tension as she wondered whether to intrude in her client’s personal matters and reveal the truth, or to stay silent and live with the guilt of the secret. Ultimately, she disclosed the secret but chose to avoid getting involved in the matter further.
Mikayla had been working for this client for the past one-and-a-half years. Her job required her to clean her house twice a month. On most days, the client and her husband were at work. On an ordinary day, she was working in the kitchen when all of a sudden, the front door opened, and her client’s husband entered the house with another woman.
Apparently, he had no clue that Mikayla was coming to the house that day, so when he saw her, he immediately slipped outside and drove away in the car with the strange woman. This incident confirmed the previous clues, evoking suspicions inside her. For instance, the other day, after she left the house, her client called her to ask whether she mistakenly forgot her iced coffee in the refrigerator. Mikayla had denied, saying that she just brought water, and that too not inside the house. But after the latest incident, she couldn’t help but think she needed to call her client.
The next day, Mikayla texted the entire episode to her client, still afraid that she would find it intrusive. Instead, the client responded by saying, “Don’t be sorry. I am so glad you told me because remember when I mentioned to you about the coffee I found? That already had my antennas go up, and when I asked him, he played dumb.” The client even offered to pay her a few extra dollars to be a spy and dig out more information. Mikayla refused to pry on her husband and quietly took a break from the client to let her figure out her relationship on her own.

The role of a third party in disclosing an infidelity might be uncommon, but it isn’t a non-existent scenario. Psychology Today interrogated 94,943 individuals (66.1% women and 33.9% men) and found that while 8% of the affairs are accidentally discovered, nearly 4.5% were exposed by third parties informing the spouse. In an interview with The Independent, Maguire Family Law also reported the results of a survey they conducted on 400 individuals. The survey revealed one in five people secretly snoop on their partners, especially if they are looking to file for divorce.

Viewers commended Mikayla for standing firm on her boundaries and staying strictly professional while being empathetic enough to reveal the truth to her client. @eleanorstipsandtoes commented, “This is so professional, and your boundaries are set, which are amazing.” @raragaga25 offered a suggestion, “Dude, just keep cleaning and swipe left on the investigation part. The last thing she needs is to lose you as well in this time of crisis.”
