When a brother realized his parents couldn't afford a dress for his sister's prom, he knew he had to step in. The boy immediately decided to build her a new dress from scratch, and the result was just magical. Well, we're talking about Maverick Francisco Oyao and his sister, Lu Asey, from the Philippines, whose story went viral in 2020. Oyao, the brother, documented the whole journey of creating an elaborate ball gown for his sister and shared it through a beautiful Facebook post

Initially, Oyao doubted whether he would be able to pull off the challenge, but he didn't give up, and his determination to make a gorgeous outfit for his sister finally paid off. Oyao quickly turned to the internet to gather knowledge about anything and everything he needed to design a ball gown. "I browsed on YouTube and on Google for different types of ball dresses, especially Michael Cinco's Spring and Summer Collection, and started conceptualizing," he wrote. Next, he sketched his own design, chose colors according to the theme of the prom, and with his mother, began sewing the outfit piece by piece. First, Oyao created a long skirt with a royal blue fabric with satin ribbons over it. Then, he placed plastic flowers with crystal beads to further accentuate its design. Now, for the top, Oyao created a beautiful corset with dramatic sleeves.

"I've done my part very well as your supportive brother, and I will never get tired of supporting you; that's your brother's promise to you," the brother wrote in his post. "I hope I make you happy this Valentine's Day. Even though we didn't get your wish for the best dress, for me, it was the best dress because you were wearing it. Your brother loves you so much," he added. As the fashion industry continues to grow, the prices of every outfit also increase. Designer dresses have always been on the slightly expensive side, since they're exclusively made and hence are far from reach for most. In fact, Detaintelo expects the global prom dresses market to grow from USD 2.5 billion in 2023 to USD 3.6 billion by 2032. Now, since the demand is on the rise, the prices will also skyrocket.

Meanwhile, reacting to the beautiful story, Loyd Arandia Albuero commented, "Your work is beautiful. She is not a princess, but she is a queen, and she is beautiful. You did a good job." Similarly, Chinky Beleno-San Pedro wrote, "Wow, I hope you get a scholarship to design school or a designer takes you in as an apprentice. Good job!" A user who goes by Kathleen Tubo on Facebook said, "God is really good! You can still do a lot to help others with the talent that God has given you. Keep on inspiring others! God bless you!" Echoing the sentiments, a person, Jobelle Flores Cachero, commented, "How I wish I had a supportive brother just like you, though my brother is supporting me in other ways, but still, you are killing it, and I love the outcome of the dress." Another user on the platform, Polestico Irish, said, "Kudos to you! I am very proud of all the brothers making efforts for their sisters. It is the best feeling ever!"
