It never occurred to him why his mother used that plate until after his sister told him following their mother's demise.
Parents often hold onto the simplest things, and we overlook how much meaning they carry. It is only later that these habits begin to make sense. Similarly, one man recently discovered why his mother used the same plate daily for more than two decades—and the reason left many bawling. The story was shared by Vikram S Buddhanesan, who goes by @vsb_dentist X (formerly Twitter). He posted a photo of the plate and the memory attached to it, as reported by Hindustan Times.
The plate had been his mother’s favorite, and she used it daily until she passed away. He wrote in the tweet, "This is Amma's plate. She had eaten from this plate for the past two decades. It's a small plate. She allowed only me and Chulbuli (Sruthi, my niece) to eat from it other than her. After her demise, I came to know through my sister that this plate was a prize I won." This occurred when he was in 7th grade, in the year 1999. He reminisced about how his mother had used this plate for the entire 24 years, a plate that he had won. He thought it was sweet that she had never mentioned this to him, and he expressed his feelings of missing her by affectionately referring to her as "maa."
Before the post and the account were deleted, it had reached more than 150,000 views. Always amazes me." @Abhilifesci29 added, "I know this is a very hard time for you. She will always be there for you. No matter what, and will always be blessing you from heaven. With time, things will get better. I am sure you were a very good son to her."

Sending prayers for your mom’s soul and wish you strength."
Although the X post has since been deleted, it is stories like these that remind us how deeply parents think about their children without ever saying a word. That same quiet love was captured in another emotional moment when a mom surprised her kids with the news that they finally had a home of their own. Pretending to take them to an open house, she let them walk inside before revealing the truth. As they noticed their belongings already packed inside, the children screamed with joy, realizing the house was theirs. One daughter broke into tears, and the mom softly said, "Welcome home," before showing them the backyard as an extra surprise.
