Among a myriad of problems we deal with as adults, having annoying neighbors is quite nerve-wracking. Just when we have had a long day, facing neighbors who are too noisy or too complaining is surely a buzzkill. For one resident, u/dontpopthebubbles on Reddit, the "neighbor troubles" involved dealing with the different moods of their neighbor. The individual wrote a post explaining how contrasting their neighbor's personalities were and was concerned that they had to face two different versions of their neighbor often. However, they finally unraveled their neighbor's mystery and it's absolutely hilarious.

The individual explained that they lived in a two-family home in a neighborhood full of similar housing arrangements. They were well-acquainted with the lady next door for several years. However, when the next-door lady had to rent out her downstairs apartment to an old man the complications began. They mentioned that the new neighbor looked like "Xenophilius Lovegood from the Harry Potter movies," and was "in his early 70s, long stringy white hair, a bit bent over, looks like maybe one or two screws loose but relatively harmless." The old man also had a black and white dog.

"The first day he moves in, seems very friendly. Says, 'Hi,' and waves. His dog seems relaxed and interested in my dog. We go our separate ways down the street," the resident mentioned. Soon, they came across a drastic shift in the old man's personality. "A couple of days later, he walks by me scowling in the street. His dog is lunging, barking and frothing at the mouth. He says, 'No,' when I say, 'Hi.' We go our separate ways down the street," they added. The old man's abrupt switch in character went on for nearly two years. He and his dog were friendly one day and grouchy the next day. "At one point his dog gets off leash and attacks mine. He yells at me about it and refuses to come get his dog," the resident mentioned.

"From this point on, my dog acts extremely agitated when she sees his dog barking. Weirdly, she is fine when she sees his dog being calm," they added. The individual was so puzzled because their dog always held grudges against the dogs she didn't like but surprisingly, she was fine when the neighbor's dog was calm. Eventually, they stopped going out when they saw the old man outside. But one fine day, they found the answer to the old man's bizarre behavior from the lady next door. "They are identical twins with identical dogs. I legitimately thought they were the same person and the same dog for 2.5 years, folks," they finally revealed. "After all this time living next door, I finally saw the two guys together. For the record - they also dressed in nearly identical matching outfits," they added.

People in the comments were absolutely amused. "That's one I would never have guessed in a million years," said u/Blaith7. "This would not have been my guess, identical twins. I was guessing untreated or inadequately treated bipolar disorder or something similar. You have my sympathy. I hope you can get things to work out," noted u/eresabooks. "I would be laughing about that for years," added u/Orphan_Izzy.
