The teacher hilariously shared that he had a 'pretty devastating week' after his students roasted him over a simple thing.
We have all made fun of the way our teachers talk, walk, eat and repeat. While we may think that teachers don’t notice or know this, they have a laugh at it on their own. A recent viral TikTok video posted by teacher Sam Salem (@samuelsleeves) shows how students will find anything and everything to roast their teachers. Salem began the video by saying, “High school kids will roast you over the most mundane things.” He went on to narrate the incident when he was sitting during lunch, “minding his own business,” eating his sandwich when suddenly a couple of students walked up to him and asked, “Mr. Salem, are you eating that sandwich with no beverage?” He responded saying, “Yeah, I guess I am.”
The teacher continued, “The student turns and shouts to his friend, ‘Mr. Salem eats his lunch with no bev!’” He further shared, “This girl chimes in and says, ‘No bev? It’s giving sociopath.’” Using his eyes to give the dialogue a sassy touch, the man then jokingly revealed, “My students literally called me ‘No bev Salem’ for the rest of the week.” He also “honestly” shared that “it was a pretty devastating week.” The incident definitely brings back memories of the school years and those teachers who were roasted for their various quirks. The comment section roared in laughter and showed support for the new nickname. @mr_r0b0t23 said, “'No Bev Salem' is actually a badass nickname.” Another user, @cindybruh777, shared her relatable nickname, “Mine roasted me for eating oatmeal! “What, Ms. T, you can’t decide between a liquid or solid?"
@dashadotbut shared, “My student calls my leftovers 'old food' like bruh, way to make it unappetizing, like he feels bad for me 'old food again'." For some TikTok users who were teachers, the video brought back memories. @julie.heckman shared, “This makes me miss teaching high school! One time they saw how old my phone was and said, 'Is that the same phone Jesus had'.” Some of the comments appreciated the teacher’s bond with his students. @ghargis27 said, “They are comfortable with you, which means they trust you and can joke with you like this. Great teacher.”
Further down, the comments section was flooded with recommendations for a comeback to the student’s roast. @laureljohnsk said, “Yeah I’m eating with no bev, a beer would get me fired, children.” Some people also expressed their strong emotions towards teenagers. @user36611776 said, “What did you mean 'minding your business' you know they always watching.” The video has gone viral among teachers, parents, teenagers and most of all, everyone who has been roasted and given nicknames in their lives. While it might seem that teenagers were harsh to the teacher, it’s nothing new and we have all been there. The daily interactions and bonds that build up over the years leave a lasting impact not just on the teachers, but also on the students and it becomes the reason for laughter at alumni reunions.
