There has been a spike in Islamophobia since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US troops from the country. Many are using the Taliban as an excuse to target Islam despite no substance in the terrorist organization's archaic and patriarchal interpretation of the Quran. The 9/11 attacks that triggered the Afghanistan war, also ignited the spark for Islamophobia in the United States.
