When she confronted him, he brushed it off, saying it was a work-related call. "That was very believable because he was the manager of a 24-hour shop," Messaine explained. However, suspicion flared when her husband immediately took the phone back from her hand and said, "I got to go to the bathroom." A few days later, another unexpected thing happened when Messaine noticed that her husband had seen her Instagram story. It was strange because he hardly used social media. Confused, Messaine logged into his account on her phone and checked his activities. She also inspected his followers and spotted the woman her husband had a late-night call with.
A horse gives it away
When Messaine investigated her account, she saw a picture of the exact horse her husband rides on his horseback riding lessons. She immediately recognized the horse, as he had multiple pictures of it on his phone. Still struggling to process the truth, Messaine admitted, "I still haven't fully connected that this is an affair because my mind just wasn't going there," and added that they were on the waiting list to adopt children. "We were very happy," until she finally told him that she knew something and he needed to man up and tell her the truth. Then, her husband finally confessed.
Messaine's husband said he had been having an affair with a married woman who owns that horse. Following his confession, she went to her sister's house later that evening and told her everything. The shock of separating from her partner after 17 years took a toll on Messaine's health. However, her ex-husband seemed carefree. Messaine later found explicit photos of his mistress, romantic messages, and a "lame ass video" of him gushing, "You call me a boyfriend. You're my girlfriend."
She also found his Google history, where he had searched for divorce. After all this, Messaine finally decided to divorce him and sell their house.
