'I kept thanking him over and over again...' the kid said when they realized Uncle George saved their life

A child was walking home after school when they saw his Uncle George passing by. He wasn't their biological uncle; he was only their dad's childhood best friend. But all the kids loved and adored him as their real uncle. While dropping the child off at home, Uncle George saw something really suspicious — a white van parked just outside the residence. So, to be safe, he took the child under his wing and called the police. What happened next made the child thank the guardian angels for sending Uncle George just in time. They posted the story on Reddit on March 21.
My dad's best friend probably saved my life today and I'm so freaking grateful for it

The child didn't question Uncle George when he asked them to get into his car. Once they sat in, he drove near the residence and saw a white van parked outside. Uncle George and the child both grew even more suspicious when they heard noise from inside. Scared, the child called their dad, while Uncle George informed the cops about the situation. "10 minutes later, which felt like an eternity, the cops showed up, and there were 4 guys inside the house, and they were stealing," the child recalled.
In fact, the van parked outside had household items that the burglars stole. "Usually when I'm walking, I have my earbuds on playing music, so I wouldn't have noticed anything and would have walked straight to them, and god knows what would have happened," the child confessed. Overwhelmed, they couldn't stop imagining all the bad things that could have happened if Uncle George hadn't arrived on time. "I kept thanking him over and over again, and Dad thanked him as well, and he was like, 'It's not a big deal,'" the child said.

Burglary incidents, particularly in the United States, are on the rise. Despite awareness and stringent rules, house break-ins have only been increasing. In fact, according to Michael & Associates' research team, burglary happens every 51 seconds in the United States. And what's more shocking is the fact that the FBI believes that 75% of all U.S. homes will be robbed over the next 20 years. Now, considering the situation, if not for Uncle George, the child would have also been an easy victim of the four men who had broken into their home.

Meanwhile, reacting to the Reddit story, u/kittybutt42 commented, "This is one of the reasons why I use bone conduction headphones, so I'm still aware of what's happening around me. I am glad that you're safe." u/evenstarcirce shared, "I am so glad you are safe, and things turned out the way they did. With that being said, it sounds utterly scary... Try not to think about the 'what ifs' because it will just make things worse mentally. Try to focus on the fact that you are safe and alive." Similarly, u/filamcouple wrote, "That man loves you enough to watch over you. Just remember that not everyone has people like him in their lives. You are very fortunate."
