An HBO Max intern probably feared the worst after accidentally sending a test email to all of the streaming service's subscribers. Little did they know that the internet would rally around to show support and love, by sharing their own goof-ups as interns. It started after Warner Media blamed the intern for the mistake, writing, "Yes, it was the intern." The HBO Max account addressed the email after a couple of people posted screenshots of the mail they received, adding that they were confused. HBO Max's Twitter account acknowledged the gaffe and said they would help the intern through it, reported CBS News. HBO Max tweeted: We mistakenly sent out an empty test email to a portion of our HBO Max mailing list this evening. We apologize for the inconvenience, and as the jokes pile in, yes, it was the intern. No, really. And we’re helping them through it.

The email had the subject line “Integration Test Email #1” and the body read: “This template is used by integration tests only.” The internet responded by showering support on the anonymous intern, with many people, including celebrities, sharing their own stories of messing up at work. Monica Lewinsky, whose internship at the White House turned into a nightmare, rallied around the intern, tweeting: “Dear intern: it gets better,” followed by a heart emoji, adding. “ps. don’t wear a beret for a while, k?” she concluded, referencing the image of her wearing a beret and standing alongside then President-Bill Clinton. It was one of the defining images of the scandal.

It's an email. At least you didn't erase the entire Community Access TV station's chyron graphics archive on accident.
Signed,
A Broadcast Engineer who once erased all the chyron graphics at a Community Access TV Station by accident when he was an intern.
Another user said they caused a global outage at Spotify, as an intern. “Dear intern, I once globally took down Spotify,” wrote Daenney, who identifies themselves as an “ex-Spotify" in their bio. “It almost happened twice. My team was awesome about it and I’m still here. You managed to find something broken in the way integration tests are done. It’s a good thing and will help improve things. Good luck <3.” An Amazon Web Services principal engineer chimed in with their own story, writing, “Dear intern, It’s ok. I dropped a prod database when I was a senior engineer. These things happen more often than you might think. Building good systems is about having resilience against human mistakes. Because we, humans, always make mistakes.”
Dear Intern, when I was 25 I made a PDF assigning each employee to the Muppet they reminded me of the most. I meant to send it to my work friend, but I accidentally sent it to the entire company. My supervisor (Beaker) wanted to fire me, but the owners (Bert & Ernie) intervened. https://t.co/zMKvQ6nxjj

I forgot to mention that we worked in an open plan office, so I got to see the chaos play out in real time. It was glorious.

The intern probably gave HBO Max more publicity than they themselves could have hoped for, as the tweet turned into a thread of people sharing heartwarming stories and support. Writer Caissie St. Onge tweeted about a gaffe she made. "I was using my desktop calendar to make a monthly note of when I started my menstrual period, but after several months I realized I was making that note on a calendar I shared with all of my colleagues, company-wide," she said. "I was 37 years old." A person with the last name Holland, wrote, "As an actual hired employee I changed the last name of everyone at the company in the HR system to “Holland”. A change that required them to restore the database from a backup. This was during my first week."
Here are some of the best goof-ups people tweeted about:

I logged into a Prod server to check for anomalies and saw user "root" was logged in. I killed "root" and that meant killing 30 banks Mobile Banking access. Mind you I was in Church, I should have paid attention to the Pastor. Fyi it was my boss that logged in😂😂😂

This was NOT your fault. You were just the one unlucky enough to discover a hole in your teams process. The real error was that it was possible for this to happen in the first place. The product will be better thanks to you.

I once didn’t recognize then-VP George HW Bush and almost didn’t let him into a meeting…in the Cabinet Room. Of The White House. Where he worked. 🤷🏼♀️
He was actually as gracious as HBO Max Help appears to be being…you’ll be fine.
Dear Intern: My first day on a job, I was in an elevator when a nice-looking man smiled and said, "Your face belongs on a cathedral."

Without missing a beat, I replied, "If comparing me to a gargoyle is the best pick-up line you've got, it needs work."
Yep, the CEO.

I once tweeted the word “impotent” instead of “impetus” from the White House Twitter account. Yes. The WHITE HOUSE — and then the media also screenshotted it. You’re welcome. I survived. You’ll be just fine.

I was working in local TV when I shattered 4 ribs wrestling. 2 days later I was talking to someone in the news room in the bkgd behind the news desk.
A friend gave me a joke punch in the ribs. I screamed "FUCK!" and collapsed to the floor... Live on the 5pm news.

By sending out Integration Test Email #1 (It passed btw) might be the best marketing that @hbomax has ever done. Congratulations! Get yourself a beer, or two. https://t.co/Par26ZNFE4
