A person recorded the man's unusual reaction while watching TV and shared it online. People developed interesting theories about the reason behind it.
It is not unusual for the camera to show fan reactions during game shows or sporting events with a live audience. Most of the time, people react excitedly after seeing themselves featured on television. But not everyone might be comfortable with being seen publicly or having people find out about their whereabouts. Similarly, a man who attended the World Darts Championship was not particularly excited about being caught on camera. The video was shared by Owen Bennett—who goes by @OwenB on X.
Bennett shared a clip from his TV where a man was excitedly watching the World Darts Tournament and cheering for his team. The people around him were also cheering and wearing Christmas clothes. Everyone had their hands in the air as their side seemed to be winning. The man was enjoying a drink and shouting before he noticed the camera on him. His mouth was set in a thin line after the shock of being seen on camera wore off. He also looked quite nervous as the camera lingered on him. Soon enough, he looked away to avoid the attention, but he continued to look worried as the camera recorded him for a little longer.
The man looked shifty and rolled his eyes as the people around him continued to cheer for the team, made noise, and enjoyed themselves, unbothered by the camera's presence. Although it wasn't exactly clear why the man reacted that way, people had certain assumptions about what might have happened to cause his reaction. Bennett felt that the guy must have called in sick from work and might be worried about his coworkers or boss finding out what he was doing. The caption to the video read, "Someone has pulled a sickie at work." The video received over 4.6 million views and more than 36k likes. People took to the comments section to express their thoughts on the man's reaction and speculate about what must have happened to him.
His job just flashed before his eyes😂

@antneal wrote, "It reminds me of a time at the darts when a guy told the camera to go somewhere else as he was with a female that wasn't his wife!" @jayrad198900 commented, "Nah, to me, that's the look of someone who told the missus he had booked the day off, but couldn't spend it with her because he had to get Christmas shopping done." @karenelslago remarked, "I clocked him last night. I thought he looked as if he had been on the marching powder, but your assumption about this makes more sense."

@whatamess40 shared, "Imagine being lucky enough where nobody at work watches darts, but unlucky enough that it's f*****g gone viral on Twitter." @DllonJMarston expressed, "That's the look of a man who has used someone dying as an excuse, had people offering their condolences, and now the jigs up."
@ClaireNotts pointed out, "Reminds me of @helfkndoes getting caught on TV while playing cards with Atomic Kitten on a Saturday morning after pulling a sickie. Brilliant weekend, hahaha." @sabrinajaine said, "Is it just me, or does this guy look like Colin Firth if he was never famous?"
