After listening to the man's vows many people on the internet felt that the bride should have walked out.
Many women hope for a partner who is emotionally available, supportive, and listens without judgment. Sadly, that’s not always the case in some relationships. In a recent wedding clip that went viral, a groom standing at the altar said something so off-putting under the guise of humor that even the guests didn’t find it funny. Louisville-based wedding filmmaker Samuel Foree, known as @foreefilms on TikTok, shared the “awkward” clip, showing a groom who hadn’t prepared meaningful vows and left viewers cringing.
The clip opens with the bride and groom standing at the altar beside the officiant. After the bride read her heartfelt vows, she smiled, waiting for the groom to share his. The groom began, "I promise to smack that a** every chance I get." The groom, Cody, said that and started laughing. He stood bent backward in a seemingly funny position, saying something seemingly amusing, but nobody laughed at what he said apart from him. Someone in the audience screamed, "Come on, Cody," but the man still kept chuckling, not realizing what he had just said.
The officiant asked, "Is that it?" Even after the person asked for confirmation, he still kept laughing and said, "That's all I got." Cody continued laughing, bending forward, finding what he had just said really funny while his bride, Kaitlin, stood there awkwardly. "I didn't write nothing out," he revealed once his laughing fit was over. "That's what you are going out with," the officiant asked again to ensure Cody was done with his vows. "That's what I am going out with," he agreed and laughed again. "Alright, cool," he said. "We've made this long," Cody commented as the video ended at just that.
The video's caption read, "I promise to smack that a**, FELLAS, this is your sign to go write those vows…now." The video received nearly 10 million views and over 580k likes. People expressed their distaste for the vows the groom had said and everything he could have written for his bride instead. @_prettytomboy pointed out, "Even if that's the kind of humor they have together. The wedding vows should've been serious." @kristiana.lenaa wrote, "He basically said, 'Well, I've treated her badly for this long. Why do better now.' I would've walked right then and there."
@nadsbene commented, "What happened to people seeing marriage as a blessing ceremony from God? The disrespect is real for the lady and God himself to say such a thing." @_it_wasnt_me_swear remarked, "I was a bridesmaid this past summer and after the bride (my friend) read her vows, the groom said 'ditto.' That's it." @reinaaval expressed, "I'm sure she planned the whole wedding from the tablecloth to his damn suit and he couldn't say a few words to express his love for her." @sunshineovahere shared, "To say this in front of her whole family and then say that's it, honey, we're literally at the altar getting married."
@foreefilms I promise to smack that 👋 FELLAS, this is your sign to go write those vows…now 🤣🫶 #ckent #weddingfilmmaker #sheehans #farmlife #vows ♬ original sound - Samuel Foree
