Writing down your feelings can be one of the most healing ways to process grief, especially when there are many things left unsaid. Recently, Reddit user u/Hawthorn57 shared a heartfelt letter he wrote to his late mother, expressing deep gratitude for all she had done for him. Alongside the letter, he posted a picture of her, honoring her memory.

"For Mom," the man began the letter. "You meant the world to me and I'm so incredibly proud of you. You achieved so much, both in your personal and professional life and I can only hope to make even half the impact that you did." He added that he was "beyond grateful" to be her son. "I'm so glad you were able to meet my children and love them as fiercely as you loved me. Jamila and Zayden love their Nana so deeply and I see your light shining in them every day," the son expressed. "I'm also thankful that you got to witness me marry the woman I love—you left me in such good hands."

"Thank you for teaching me how to swim, how to ride a bike, and how to laugh even when things were tough," the son admitted. Also, he was grateful for being taught compassion, kindness and empathy. "Thank you for always protecting me and accepting me for who I am. You taught me right from wrong, stood by me when I needed you most, and were my shoulder to lean on. You were the light guiding me through my darkest moments." The son was endlessly grateful for everything his mom did for him. "Thank you for teaching me how to crawl, how to walk and how to run toward my dreams." The man recounted his final moments with his mom. "I'll never forget our final moments together. I stayed up late by your side, watching over you."

"When you woke up, I asked if you needed anything and told you I loved you. I rested my head beside you and you looked at me with that gentle warmth I'll never forget. You asked if I wanted to lay my head on your shoulder and I laid there, holding your hand until you fell back asleep. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect goodbye," the son continued. "I am so lucky to have had you as my mother, and I am going to miss you every day. I love you. Goodbye, Mom." People in the comments are getting emotional after reading the letter and have expressed their thoughts.

I hope her memory continues to be a blessing for all who knew her." u/Soft_Wheel6431 commented, "I just lost my mom and all you say is true minus the kids. She was a forever fierce supporter of all I did. I miss her down to the core of my being. I love what you wrote." u/Neldsi1993 remarked, "I haven't spoken to my mother for 5 years due to some quarrel. I still miss her sometimes and want to talk to her but can't gather the courage to talk to her. I hope someday things get better and everything is back to normal. My condolences for your loss."
