Pops called out the women for saying they had claim over his aunt's inheritance

Money and inheritance can be touchy subjects, especially after losing a loved one. In some cases, the reading of a will can even break families apart. A man who goes by u/BuckDaddy420 on Reddit shared an incident he witnessed at a family friend's funeral. The woman lived close to 100 before she passed away, but for years, her family ignored her, except for one grandson. When they found out to whom she gave her 100-acre land, their first question was, "She can't do this to us! Can she?" The post was shared on April 29, 2019. It has received 13,000 upvotes and 349 comments.
When the author was in third grade, he met a set of twins, who became his second family. They had a half Mexican and half Mescalero Apache grandfather, who was also head of the family. By the time the author was 21, he began working with the old man, whom he referred to as 'Pop.' During their job at Fort Worth, Pop found out his aunt had passed away. He took the author with him to Waco for the funeral.
At the parlor, they overheard the woman's family members talking amongst themselves, discussing the will. They could not believe that the woman gave away all of her "100+ acre ranch, a large farmhouse, and a seven figure back account" to her grandson. One of the women even blamed him for her death, saying, "It's his fault she died! If he hadn't of provided her with whiskey and cigars all those years, she would still be alive!" The grandson's mother responded with, "Don't worry. He's my son and will do whatever I say. We'll sell everything and split it evenly between just the four of us."

Pop, who had heard everything, had had enough and stood up to speak. He told the women to "shut y'alls a**es! This woman lived to be nearly 100 years old, and you're going to try and say he ki**ed her! Over what? Money?" He also addressed their claim over the inheritance, "If you cared so much about her, where were y'all the last 20 years of her life? He didn't do it for the money, he did it because it was his grandma and it was the right thing to do!"
Everyone was stunned by Pop's outburst. Before the women got a word in, the grandson entered the room and said, "Goodbye, Mom. This is the last time any of y'all will see me again." He left, took over his grandmother's ranch, and went no-contact with his immediate family.

The most common way to leave one's inheritance to their children. However, a Charles Stanley survey of parents and millennial children found that 25% of parents planned to leave their estate to grandchildren, instead of their own kids. Additionally, 23% revealed they would not be happy with their parents' decision if they gave their inheritance to their grandchildren. In the grandson's case, he rightfully acquired all of his grandmother's property and assets. He was the only one who took care of her during the last 20 years of her life, when everyone tried to have little to nothing to do with her.

Towards the end of the story, the author revealed that Pop had passed a few years ago, and he just wanted to share a story about him. Several commenters praised Pop for the man he was and applauded the way he responded to the greedy family members. u/twm3rocks commented, "I'm glad the grandson got everything because that thing (EM) the other little devils (EFs ) deserved nothing but cr*p." u/Dr-Deadpool pointed out that the grandson deserved everything. They wrote, "That man deserves a country if you ask me."
