They are going viral for their adorable costumes and dance that replicate the popstar's show during Super Bowl.
After a break of six years, Rihanna, the acclaimed singer who has won nine Grammy Awards, returned to the stage with an electrifying performance. She started off her show wearing a striking red jumpsuit and surprised everyone by revealing her second pregnancy while cradling her baby bump mid-air. At the State Farm Stadium, she performed her popular club hits, ranging from "Where Have You Been" to "Only Girl (In the World)" and the enduring classic "We Found Love." This week, a group of lively seniors residing in a Kentucky assisted-living facility garnered widespread attention on social media platforms with their TikTok video in which they recreated a part of Rihanna's Super Bowl halftime show performance.
Some viewers even claimed that they surpassed the pop star in their performance. The video, posted on Thursday, features eleven women between the ages of 80 and 92, dressed entirely in white, emerging from the screen in pairs to reveal an 87-year-old Dora Martin donning a red outfit, holding a microphone and lip-syncing to Rihanna's "Rude Boy." "I'm just a silly person, and I like to do what other people want me to do," Martin told The New York Post, explaining why she decided to participate in the video. The two 20-something-year-old employees at Arcadia Senior Living convinced Martin, along with 82-year-old Sue Evans and 86-year-old Pat, who declined to give her last name, to happily join in on the video project.
Martin expressed that their participation in such activities helps to keep them youthful. "They do a great job of trying to switch up the atmosphere here... by trying out different things - and we have a good time falling for it," Pat added. The seniors, along with their grandchildren, were astounded when their video surpassed 23 million views until now. TikTok user @mariey584 commented, "I love this so much. I miss my grandma and grandpa so much. This was perfect." Another person @_ish157 said, "Wowwww i wonder how there were in their young age." User @faithdiana10 commented, "Those grannies are such beauties. The Rihanna granny must have been a beauty queen in her youth."
Rihanna's Super Bowl performance gained a lot of attraction for the special moments and elements it contained. One of them was also about her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, being her biggest fan. During the highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime performance on February 12, 2023, A$AP Rocky was spotted cheering for Rihanna, his girlfriend, in a heartwarming fan moment. The NFL shared a video on Twitter featuring Rocky wearing a patriotic outfit and adding to the ambiance of the show with his phone's flashlight. As Rihanna performed and announced her second pregnancy to the Arizona crowd, Rocky was also seen clapping and cheering for her.
On May 13, 2022, the couple had their first child, whose details have been kept private. Prior to the halftime show, Rihanna admitted in an interview that she was uncertain about performing. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, she expressed, "I was thinking, 'Are you sure? I'm just three months postpartum. Should I be making major decisions like this right now? I might end up regretting it.'"
