Grandparents tend to give advice to new parents about what they should and should not do with their babies. Although this advice might be well-meaning, it can come off in the wrong way. A grandma took to TikTok to share why grandparents don't need to say something every time they disagree with something the parents are doing with a baby. The woman, Maria—who goes by @mommom.maria on TikTok—shared why she doesn't say something every time she disagrees with her daughter's parenting.

"If I don't agree with every little decision that my daughter makes for the baby I usually don't say anything. Sometimes I can't help myself," Maria shared. "When it came to this I couldn't help myself," the grandmom said showing a sipper bottle. "I had to say something. So Prue is 13 months old now and she gets two bottles a day." She showed a usual baby bottle and explained, "This is the one she gets in the morning. She really enjoys her morning bottle. She is not like a bottle kinda baby but she really does enjoy her morning bottle and then she gets one before bed." The woman revealed how she and her husband were babysitting the other night.

"My daughter said to put her milk in this before bed," Maria remarked showing the bottle with the straw. "It has like a straw and doesn't spill. It's one of those things that when you hold upside down it doesn't spill and she could just suck it," she added. "She doesn't have to tilt up." The grandma continued, "But I resisted because in my head she is still a baby, she is 13 months old. She is just a baby." The woman pointed out that regardless of what she felt it was not her decision and she was not the decision maker. "I am not the mom. I am the mom mom," she went on. "The privileged mom mom that gets to babysit. So I gave it to her and she drank it. She didn't resist or cry for her bottle or anything."

"So I guess my daughter was right. That's really what I wanted to say to the other grandmothers. You don't have to agree but you have to do it," Maria suggested. The video received over 101.9k views and more than 8.1k likes. People took to the comments section of the video to share their own experiences about the same thing. @godzillatoenails shared, "I told my Mom and MIL this, 'I’m not saying you’re wrong with how you chose to do things with your kids. I just do things differently.' Helped a lot!" @tiny.rebel wrote, "You are so emotionally mature about it. I'm so proud of you for showing what respecting your children's right to parent looks like!"

@smsumz remarked, "And the only thing your kid and grandkid will feel is love, support and respect…and it’s that easy. And we all wish we had someone like you in our lives." @.lexichops commented, "You remind me of my mom. She’s really good about respecting my wishes about my baby the only thing we disagree about is him wearing a hat. She always thinks he’s cold! But it’s 102° where we live!"
